Lovely gite, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Ideally placed in the centre of the town a few minutes walk from the boulangerie, butcher and a small supermarket. Perfect for a short stay in this lovely village.

This is a lovely, airy, spacious house - the photos don't really do it justice. Tastefully decorated and a well equipped kitchen, it has everything you (and the kids) might need TV, Wi-Fi etc. It's within easy walking distance of a few boulangeries (a real bonus), a boucherie and a small Co-op. There is a really lovely little port area with lots of little bars and restaurants - just a short stroll away. It's not bustling and loud, just relaxing and calm with good value places to eat. We were only there for a week but visited some lovely beaches in at Meschers and Didonne St George. The weather was glorious and we'd love to return one day. Ps - Housekeeper was lovely and really helpful.

We stayed at Chai au Soleils during the month of July and highly recommend the house. The photos describe the property honestly and the interior is as nice as it looks in the pictures. While the weather was hot the house was cool and airy and having three bedrooms and two baths certainly helped to reduce stress when travelling with teenagers. The kitchen has all required amenities and we found the property clean and everything was in working condition. The tv is quite small but we saw that as a plus and only used it twice during our three week stay. Internet on the other hand was excellent and speedy (50Mb?) and wireless reception is possible in all rooms but the living room where we liked to sit down and talk. The local contact was very nice and helpful. Mortagne sur Gironde is a nice little village with a baker and a butcher in walking distance and we never had a problem that our eight-year old daughter got the baguettes every morning. Regarding amenities there's also an ATM roughly 150m away which we used. For family food shopping a car is highly recommended though as Lidl or SuperU are about 10km away. A car is also required to visit the beaches which are 20 to 30 minutes to drive to.

This house is a in a nice quiet location near the church in Mortagne. The house has everything you need to have a relaxing easy holiday. Well furnished, plenty of glasses, crockery and all good appliances and enough hot water morning noon and night. Nice outside space and furniture and a superb kitchen diner for entertaining - I cooked for ten one day as we know people who live nearby. The village has bank, coop, bakers, butcher, restaurant, bar etc. The nearby port of Mortagne has a few more shops/bars too and lovely walks onto the Gironde Estuary. Our deposit was refunded promptly and we were met on time as arranged on day one. Excellent customer service. We went as two couple and we all had a very nice stay here. P.S The oysters and fruit de mer were once again up to the usual high standard from the vendor at the port.

We stayed here for two weeks during August 2013. The house was lovely, private, spacious and well-equipped. There was four adults and three children (7yrs, 5yrs and 18 months) staying and there was plenty of room both inside and out. The property is well-reflected in the photographs. The property is located a short walk from bakers, butchers and the centre of town; where you will find a small shop, bar, pizzeria and tourist information office. There is a slightly further walk to the harbour where there is a good selection of further restaurants. Beaches are slightly further afield (c. 15 mins towards Royan are the closest).

I recently stayed here with my husband and two teenage daughters - we loved the house and thought it had been decorated with great care and taste. It was by far the best holiday house we have stayed in and we hope to visit again next year. The house was also very clean, light and incredibly spacious. We felt very comfortable and at home and could not fault it in any way. We also liked Montagne sur Gironde which was a quiet town with very useful friendly shops whilst having a lively little port area with restaurants and bars just a little further walk down the road. We found plenty to do and there were lovely beaches nearby plus plenty of other places to visit.

Nous avons passé une semaine à 4 dans cette maison traditionnelle de la région de Charente-Maritime. Ce gîte a été très bien rénové avec tous le confort moderne. Quand il fait trop chaud dehors vous apprécierez la fraicheur à l'intérieur de ce très beau gîte. Possibilité de manger en terrasse et barbecue. Quartier très calme. Un grand merci pour l'accueil souriant de Mme Maryline.

We had a wonderfull week in this preciously arranged house in a little, lazy and authentic town in France. The house is beautfully renovated and is very well equipped. From a big and atmospherous kitchen to bedrooms with beds that invite for a good nightrest. Mortagne is a sleepy authentic town wich is good base for visiting the cognac-vines, romantic villages and beautifull beaches

You feel at home (even better!) in a recently modernized house. The kitchen is great, the furniture is tasteful, the village is quiet. There are many beautiful places to visit in the region.
