It can also be used for zipping around town, the car eco friendly and therefore has free parking. Vakta is a small Villa in a small neighbourhood of one of the smallest capital cities in the world. It is filled with Icelandic design and Icelandic history and it is an incomparable opportunity to get to know a side of Reykjavík usually kept secret by its inhabitants. Vakta spans two centuries and is full of history. It was brought back to life from an unremarkable storage room to its former beauty, using original materials and building techniques. The Vakta House is a must-stay. It even blew away my Icelandic friends. It's location is impeccable (both positioning you in the convenience of being downtown, but not close enough to hear the late-night revelry). From arriving at the historic property, you may underestimate it's...More

About the neighborhood
The house is a block from city center Reykjavik, so it is easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, museums
and meeting locations for tour pick ups but at the same time the street where the house is is quiet and calm.
The neighborhood also offers some great bicycle and walking paths along the harbor and the beautiful coastline where you can watch the sunset and the Northern Lights.
As far as location in Reykjavik we believe you would be hard pressed to find a better location.
How to get there
The cheapest way from the Keflavík airport to Vakta is the Flybus. - Iceland Excursions/Flybus have buses from Keflavik Airport to Reykjavik Centrum Hotel at Adalstræti 16. It´s there where you get off the bus. Walk up Grjotagata and turn right on Gardastraeti. Vakta is the second house from the corner. See the map: https://goo.gl/maps/4R7Sj

The buses are always available in front of the airport building. You can also buy and book your transfer in advance. See the link: https://www.re.is/flybus/ One way ticket cost around 20 EUR per person. If you by return ticket as well, both ways will cost you 28 EUR.
Be aware, you have to change buses at the Bus station www.bsi.is and from there you get the bus to Reykjavik Centrum Hotel. You can also walk from the Bus station to Vakta. It will ta...
