Civray has recently opened an indoor and outdoor pool complex a 5 minute walk away, prices from 3 euros, whilst the local campsite, restaurant and bar, with a swimming area for wild swimming in the Charente is even closer, frequented by the local youth and resident Coypu .
As this is our home, we have fully equipped the facilities with good quality items, and fitted Sky TV in order to keep in touch with events. Wood for the fire is stored should it be needed

Ideally located gite
This is a delightful, fully equipped gite and we have been very comfortable here. The outside space is outstanding with its large gardens and riverside position. Sun loungers, a covered shady terrace and private fishing make this a great place to relax. There is also a great barbecue for the evenings when you are not eating out; but there are some great options for restaurants and bars in Civray, a short stroll away - notably O City Ven (open Fri and Sat evenings and some lunchtimes). Lorraine and Serge have been very helpful and friendly throughout, giving up to date info on all sorts. The walks around Civray are well worth doing - well signed and easy underfoot. Recommended!

Thanks to you Claire & Peter for your lovely review. We do pride ourselves in making our holliday home a true home from home. On a personal front, we were absolutely amazed that you had left the house and garden so immaculate after your long holiday, which enabled us to enjoy our own. You were the perfect guests and would be welcome to stay anytime and hope you do buy your French home sometime soon, so we can share an apero (or two) with you.

Charming, peaceful holiday home
We were fortunate enough to stay at this lovely house for 3 weeks and we couldn't have wished for a more relaxing holiday. The riverside house is fully equipped with everything you may need during your stay and it's in a fabulous location, close enough to walk to the town, whist being very peaceful, with loads of lovely places to visit within a 20 minute drive. The owners could not be more helpful, they gave us lots of info before our trip and were contactable during the stay if needed.

Riverside hideaway
Lovely homely house, quiet location by the river, felt like you were in a remote location, yet in easy walking distance of town and everything you need. Locals were friendly, twice weekly markets in town, giving you a slice of French life. Owners were very helpful, communication and information was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.

Felt like wind in the willows
Peace and tranquillity, Good size house, plenty of room, never felt as though we were cramped, even when the weather was bad.
Small but well appointed kitchen, plenty of china cutlery glass ware good size fridge freezer ect.
Enough bedding and towels.
Civray has a good selection of supper markets shops bars and estate agents, with the added bonus off the Tuesday morning market all very good.
Attractions we visited were, castles ( but shut on Tuesdays all day) caves and local walks.
Found the people not only friendly but very pleasant.
We ourselves, are planning a return trip.

Cozy Country Cottage with Fabulous Owners!
First off, if you're looking for a 5* hotel, this may not be your place. If you're looking for a typical home for this part of the French countryside, this cottage is wonderful! The owners had used it for summer holidays mostly, so they kindly installed two electric heaters before my arrival. They were also excellent about communicating all of the information I would need for my stay (assuming I'd been familiar with European doors that is)! TIP: Non-Europeans, you have to turn the handle as far up as it will go to lock & unlock the door.
It was very easy to confirm my booking, obtain the key and settle in. The owners also nicely left wine, beer & water for my arrival so I didn't arrive late and have nothing. I did find that the cottage was still quite cold in the evenings, so you'll likely want to build a fire if you stay during cooler months; however, the wood & quick starter cubes are provided. I am staying for an extended time, but thought I'd post a review after a week as that is more similar to the experience of a typical traveler.
Outside of it being a little cool and a few cob webs, everything was quite comfortable and clean. You're in the country and right on a slow-moving river, so a few spiders and mosquitoes found their way inside while I was there, but nothing unexpected.
The house was well equipped with dishes, towels, bedding, hand & body soap (like you'd find in a hotel), dish soap, etc. I'm not sure if the owners will change this with a higher volume of rentals (I was the first), but during my stay there were also spices and mosquito repellents that were offered for my use.
There is no internet currently, but I used "My Webspot" to rent a mobile unlimited Wi-Fi hotspot. Total cost was still less than area hotels with much more convenience and comfort!

Many thanks for your kind review.
We try to make our home as comfortable for our guests as we would do so for ourselves, so to hear such nice comments makes us feel very proud of our French "pied a terre!"
Enjoy the rest of your stay
