Not the initial booked house but an alternative was supplied which was newer. The location is very good - central and lots of places can be visited easily from there. Everything was very clean and comfortable. On the rooftop there was a very nice view with lounge set and also on the ground floor a terras. The owner was very helpful and responsive in case of questions.

Very comfortable house
We were very pleased with this house, it has a lovely open and spacious lounge There is everything here that you would need, a decent iron and board, lots of books ranging from novels, travel and history. Comfy sofas and beds and a good private outdoor garden with a small verandah with a table and a selection of chairs, very nice having breakfast and other meals out there
Its was like coming back to a little oasis after travelling to ancient Corinth, Epidravos, etc. The people in the village are very friendly Would recommend it

one marvellous week in octobre
It's a large house, very comfortable. (three rooms and two bath room very well convenient when you have children)You can easily have lunch and diner outside because you have a big table outside.
Inside the house, you have everything for your stay.
octobre or the beginning of novembre is a very nice time for going in Greece. Weather is no more hot but water is still good. We swam every day. Beaches are almost empty so it's very pleasant. That's the same with archeological sites.
The house is very well situated if you want to visit famous places as Epidaure or Mycènes. And at the same time you are very close from very nice beaches. At the same time, you are not so far from athens so if come for a short time as one week, you don't loose to much time with the transports.

we spent a too short time in this super house and city of Zevgolatio...so far from tourism standards ! Everything was excellent and now, we have a lot of friends there ! We'll come back to meet them again ! The house is very confortable, clean, spacious, modern and quite : it's like coming home but...it's in Greece with neibourghs who are very helpfull and friendly ! We appreciate the "family wall" with all this photos telling us what's your family history...and the Easter lamb ! The house is two minutes from the main square. The friday market is so lovely. Everything is easy, fluent and ...if you want to learn Greek language quickly, it's the right place, near the sea and not far from argolides cities...You have to go there !

Lovely house in a residential area
Ares' House is all as it is described in its adverts. It is modern with quality, comfortable furnishings, sleeps six in three bedrooms and has a bathroom and shower room. The large open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge is well equipped and there is a new television and DVD player. Although there are no English language channels, there are many English and american programmes broadcast in English with subtitles.
Outside the main door is a porch that has a table and chairs and some informal seating with a coffee table. The 'yard' is a brick paved area in which there is a barbecue some planters and, in the summer, a mulberry tree to sit under.
The house is situated in a cul-de-sac of 7 houses, two of which at least are occupied by the caretaker, Mina, and her wider family. Mina is very conscientious and speaks some English. However, her niece, who lives opposite the house has excellent English and helps with explanations when needed.
The neighbours are very friendly, and although few spoke much English, always acknowledged us as we went past. The old lady Sophia, who lives opposite, brought us in grapes from her garden as did Mina.
The neighbourhood is residential and not generally for tourists. Zevgolatio is a small town about a mile off the old athens-Corinth-Patras road and has everything you need if you don't want to venture far afield.
Supermarkets Lidl,Spak,Carrefour, MyMarket and Eurospar are on the main road.
The motorway and the sites of archeoCorinth and acroCorinth are each 10-15 minutes away.
We were very grateful to anastasia and Jim for a very efficient booking service and quick responses to any queries we had. Do not be put off that you sending money to Canada to rent a house in Greece, it is legitimate!
We had a great time in ares' House and in the area generally and we thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of Greek sun and a base from which to see the archaeological sites.

A beautifully appointed house in a Greek village near Corinth
A wonderful experience for our three generation family reunion. The house easily accommodated the 7 of us, and the three young children were thrilled with the toys. We ate all our meals on the terrace outside, and loved the feeling of being part of the street community.
Everyone else's comments apply to us too, we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a true Greek village experience. The owners, Anastasia and Jim in Canada. were extremely prompt with communication and their efforts made our stay memorable. The caretaker Mina is very caring and helpful, and our young teenage neighbour Georgia extremely competent with English which is a great help in a village environment where few people speak English. We loved the Friday produce markets - don't miss them.
It would be difficult to explore the area without a car. The highlight of our day trips was to the beautiful cove at the Heiron archaeological ruins just past Limni Vouliagmenis (an inland lake with safe swimming in crystal clear water). Approx one hour drive to get there through Corinth to Loutraki (a very pretty tourist spa town) and on to Lake Vouliagmenis. Continue to the end of the road at the peninsula where there is a lighthouse and ruins. There is quite a steep path down to the beach and to the ruins adjoining the beach...don't hesitate to make the effort, it has the feel of a secret cove on a Greek island! (can view it on Google maps to the west of Limni Vouliagmenis)
Another wonderful day trip is to Napflion and the amphitheatre at Epidauros, (over 2000 years old) where at the top of the seating for 14,000 people you can hear a whisper from the stage area, or a coin drop.
We enjoyed our stay so much we returned for our last night in Greece, after staying at Paris Village apartments in Chrani near Kalamata, another wonderful family experience.

JjJanis, many thanks for your kind words about Ares' House. I will share your review tonight with Jim and our 9-year-old son, Ares. We all take pleasure in knowing that other families are enjoying our Greek home when we cannot be there. If you are ever in Greece again, please drop us a line and if we are in Greece we would love to meet you personally. You now have some Greek friends!

I was in ares house for 2 weeks with 6 friends and we had the best time ever! We wanted a local greek experience and we got it!! The street the house is located in is very small and the people that live there are from one family. There are warm welcoming people that will make you feel at home. They helped us, we had dinners together, and they showed us how extremely friendly the Greek people are. The house is great everything you need, clean, good kitchen etc etc If you have a car this will be the best location ever, if not going to the beach walking or hitchhiking works good as well. A very big recommendation for everyone!!!

One of the best vacations we ever had.
The communication with the persons who rent the house, Anastasia and Jim, was very good: we got almost instant and complete answers to our questions about the house or the environnement via e-mail. There were no extra costs: we rented for two weeks and payed exactly the amount stated on the website. When we arrived, Georgia, a 14 year old girl, deputized for Mina, the normal going-to person. She explained every detail of the house to us in clear, impeccable English.
The first thing we noticed when we arrived is that the house is spacious, very tastefully furnished and clean. One of the living room sofa's can easily be transformed in a double bed. (and also easily returned to its normal position during the day) This was useful for everyone of our family, consisting of seven persons, to find a sleeping place. Both bathrooms are nice and tidy. We very much appreciated the airconditioning in the bedrooms and the living, and the beach chairs and parasols that are in the hall closet and that we could take with us to the beach each day.
We had a wonderful time in Zevgolatio: the place is quiet, there are some nice restaurants and a market on Friday. During the day we often went swimming in Vrachati, 7 minutes driving from our house. There are several nice beaches, mostly with sand and pebbles. On several places there are douches on the beach. We also went to Loutraki, about 25 minutes from our house, a beach that the children particularly liked because of the large waves.
We also made some excursions: Athens, Corinth, Epidauros, ..., but there's a lot more to make when we return.
In the evenings we went to a restaurant or roasted our meat on the barbecue in the yard. Afterwards, we sat on the porch and talked, played games or read a book, surrounded by those lovely mediterranean flavors and sounds. It was really a great holiday!

Ares House is in Zevgolatio, an agricultural town with approx. 5,000 people, tavernas, coffeeshops, and a open-air farmer's market every week--all within a short walk of Ares' House. The beach is an approximate 7'-drive away. If you get tired of enjoying the beach you can take day-trips to interesting and exciting places such as The Delphi, the ancient theatre of Epidauros, the Acrokorinthos in the town of ancient Korinth, picturesque town of Nafplio, the islands of Poros, Spetses, and Hydra, the mountains of Feneos, and of course, Athens.
Ares House can be reached from the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport in Athens after a 2-hour drive or a 1.5 hour train ride. You can rent a car or take the Proastiakos train directly from the airport. For the timetable of Proastiakos please see http://www.trainose.gr/en/passenger-activity/suburban-railway/athens-suburban-railway/ You will need to take the train with final destination to Kiato or Xylokastro and get off the train at Zevgolatio. From the Zevgolatio train station you are only a 5 minute taxi ride away from Ares House.
