Easy access from airport. Quite nice beach,supermarket, chemist, local & tour bustops, & some traditional tavernas all within walking distance. However, noisy dogs opposite the apartment, some plumbing issues, & too many mosquitoes with too much water from gardens etc. Very small bathroom, & could do with some extra cooking utensils. Friendly & helpful owner. Not as scenic as further along coast, but easy local bus to Knossos Palace & museums.

The apartment provided an excellent base for a family to be able to explore Heraklion. There is a regular bus service to town which only takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively there is a costal walk which takes about half an hour if you are a family with older children. We stayed during August which guarantees good weather but the temperatures can reach the high 30s. The beach is 5 minutes from the apartment with the option to hire sun beds and umbrella for a very reasonable rate. Mathias and his family are amazing hosts providing excellent information about sightseeing and places to eat.We were made to feel very welcome.

We had a really good time on holiday in Crete ,the apartment was fine for 2 ,,the sun shone from early at the front of building and then on to the balcony in the afternoon .A nice beach was just a few minutes walk ,and the buses into Heraklion were frequent ,tickets can be purchased at a small kiosk on the main road.We have now visited 3 Greek islands and we do enjoy Greece .The patisseries were great the cakes and pastries really do taste as good as they look .We hired a car for a few days and im glad i did as we were able to visit some lovely spots that we would not have made without it ,my only regret was that i should have hired the car for longer and seen much more of the lovely island .Some places one goes i think the souveniers can be somewhat tacky but we both enjoyed the souvenir shops and brought lots back ,Matthios is a lovely person very warm and friendly and so is his family ,nothing was any trouble for them

The owner was very helpful and friendly. I requested a blanket rather than a duvet if possible and he bought one specially. The apartment was small but had everything we needed and nicely decorated. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but the shower surprisingly powerful. There were two balconies to maximise sun and a brand new cooker which we made use of. The view from the balconies was not particularly scenic looking out onto other properties but you could see the sea which was very close by. It was nice to relax there in an authentic cretan suburb. (The apartment was in a quiet residential area with some businesses nearby.) The supermarket and bus stop to city centre very handy making this a good base to explore the area.
