Condo/Apartment
Charming and very well located apartement in Mouraria where you can feel completely at home. Very central and near metro, buses and trams, including the famous 28 tram. Within walking distance of all the old historical neighborhoods. This charming apartment has been recently completely renovated and is located in a lovely cobbled, dead end street with no cars. The bedroom has a king size double bed and there's space for 2 more adults to sleep in the fitted bunk bed in the living room. The living room is joined to the fully equipped kitchen through an opening which also serves as a breakfast bar. A bathroom with shower and natural light is next door to the bedroom. There is a balcony with nice views over Lisbon, where you can also see the famous 28 tram pass by on the street below. You will have access to the entire apartment and I will be present at your arrival to welcome you! The street of the apartment is reached via a narrow flight of steps, or alternatively via a fairly steep street in the Mouraria neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is inhabited by a vibrant mix of Portuguese locals and immigrants mainly from Bangladesh, China and India. Despite some run down buildings and occasional graffiti, it is one of the safest neighbourhoods in Lisbon. It is completely safe to walk around at any time of night or day. There are two squares within 5 minutes walk of the apartment (Largo do Intendente and Praca Martim Moniz) both of which have a varied selection of bars and terraces perfect for enjoying a snack and a drink in the sunshine. House Rules: - Please note that from the 1st of January 2016 a city tax of EUR 1 per person, per night is not included in the total price and should be paid on site. This tax is charged to guests aged 13 and older. It is subject to a maximum amount of EUR 7 per guest. - Check-in after 10 p.m. has an extra fee of 20,00€, required on check-in. - Please respect our neighbours by keeping noise levels down in the apartment between 22:00 and 8:00 and also in the entrance hall of the building. - The apartment has lovely solid wood floors, so the property is strictly non-smoking. About the neighborhood
Mouraria is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city and gets it's name from the 'Moors' (muslims) who were confined to the neighbourhood after the Christian conquest of Lisbon in 1147 AD. It is still one of the must multi-cultural neighbourhoods of the city, but nevertheless a very authentic Lisbon neighbourhood, and the birthplace of Fado. The famous modern Fado singer Mariza grew up in the streets of Mouraria. Having become rather run down, major renovations starting in 2009 have now made it one of the hippest and alternative areas in Lisbon.
How to get there
Using Metro (recommended): The nearest Metro station is Intendente on the Green line (5 minutes walking from the apartment). From the airport, take the Red line (direction São Sebastião) and then change at Alameda for the Green line (direction Cais do Sodré) and get off at Intendente. The journey will take about 30 minutes. The car is not needed to visit Lisbon and is very difficult to park in the historic center.
