Spacious, comfortable house near beach and town
We stayed here for two weeks and the property easily accommodated our party of five. The lady who showed us round was very welcoming and contactable by text if you have any questions. This beautiful house is very private, set well back from a residential road, with a long driveway and lockable gate. There is a garden at the back where you can sit out on the decking or on the patio without being overlooked and it has the sun for most of the day. We used the barbecue and the washing lines down the side of the garden. Inside the house is very characterful and feels like a real home that has been lived in. The beds were extremely comfortable, and there is a good shower downstairs as well as a well-equipped kitchen. It smelled slightly musty when we arrived on 6 June, but this soon went when we opened the windows. We were a bit early, as the weather in the first week was mostly cloudy with some rain, and the best restaurant (Ribeirinha, 10 minutes’ walk away) did not open in the evenings until 15 June. However, in the second week we had great weather, visited the nearby beaches, Cabo da Roca (most westerly point on mainland Europe), did the wonderful tram ride to Sintra, and visited the Adega de Colares, an impressive winery at less than 5 minutes’ walking distance, where you can enjoy a tasting. Some of us also did a day trip to Lisbon, which is only 45 minutes away. The village centre is less than a 5 minutes' walk, as is the supermarket. There are only a few restaurants and cafés, but there is more choice in Sintra and you can also eat well at Praia Grande, an impressive sandy beach nearby. We didn’t have a car and thought we were limited to the local buses until we discovered that Uber now operates in this area. This completely revolutionised our holiday in that we could go wherever and whenever we wanted for rates that were well below those for public transport for five people. And that means that this property is accessible to anyone who wants to enjoy this beautiful area of Portugal.

La casa comodisima y el sitio muy bonito. En el PN de Sintra, maravilloso. Con chimenea y mucho detalle en todo. Camas amplias y ambiente propicio para descansar. Repetiremos!!

Another wonderful visit
Our second visit to Casa da Banzao and just as good as the last one. We used the new outside BBQ area with running water and lights, but not the new wood burning stove on the stairs or the heaters in the bedrooms as it was not that chilly. Excellent area for walking and we used the book that was in the house, 'Walking in the Countryside'. Most of the walks can be accessed by the local buses and some start from near the house. We also visited the local beaches, again using the buses, but remember that the winter timetable starts in September! There is everything you need in the house, and it is very spacious and has lovely sitting out areas and garden. Very quiet area and a relaxing holiday.

Wonderful place! Wish I hadn't had to leave!
Casa do Banzao is amazing. It's was perfect for what we required and I just didn't want to leave. Owners helpful and friendly and even let you use their art materials so you can leave a piece of you there. I had a wonderful time in Colares and I would recommend this place to stay to anyone and everyone. Full kitchen with so many cooking implements, many I wish I had at home. Plenty of herbs and spices etc there so you don't have to pick them up. All I can say is we had a wonderful time here and it's the perfect little getaway venue. Book it now! :D

Stylish property, very clean and hosts most welcoming.
We stayed here to travel to a family wedding at a nearby Quintra. Greeted on arrival by owner's mother, Gracia, who lives next door but one. Owner kept us updated after reserving and arriving. Lovely villa some five minutes drive from the two nearby beaches and 20 minutes from Sintra. Very clean house, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Nice touch with local wine and home-made pasties when we were shown round the house. Good patio area out of the kitchen and a sun trap for breakfast. All four of us were most impressed with the villa.

excellent house for a family holiday .............. and such good value
Stayed here for a few days in September with our daughter and grandson who live in Lisbon. I can thoroughly recommend this accommodation for families or for a couple/group of friends. Lovely house, open plan with wooden floors, tastefully decorated with everything you need .................. and at a very reasonable rent. Front garden catches the sun in the morning, the terrace and yard in the evening. Excellent location as we did not have a car with us. We caught the bus to Praia das Macas and Azenhas do Mar. They are about every hour. There is also a bus from the centre of Colares to Cabo do Roca and Cascais. We also used the tram, which only runs at the weekend. We were able to go to our favourite restaurant, O Croa at the top of Praia Grande - a wonderful view and a small play area for children. Two good shops selling fresh local food and a take away that does delicious chicken. Excellent restaurant, in the centre of Colares with a large terrace for sitting out in the sun and a small cafe at the bottom of the road Huge beds and very comfortable. The owners provided some toys for our 2 year old grandson which were very welcome and he loved the footballs in the garden and the sit on car (though he did fall off this). The wine cellar in Colares does wine tours and there is lots to see in Sintra. Probably not a suitable house for the winter but excellent for other times of the year.
