St. Peter Apartment is on Via di Porta Cavalleggeri which is the street just outside the south wall of Vatican City. This well maintained apartment is on the first floor of the building, up one small flight of stairs. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, a living/ dining room, and a kitchen. The smaller bedroom has attached bath as well as a great view of St. Peter's Basilica from the window as pictured. The kitchen window has a similar view. In the living area, there is a small daybed, clothes chest/ closet, and TV (which we never used) with a curtain divider to separate it into a potential third "bedroom" at night. The dining table is in the dining area on the other side of this curtain, and is where we gather for breakfast daily. The kitchen has fridge/ freezer, stove, toaster oven, dishwasher, sink, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and clothes washer. There is Wi-fi internet as well as AC/ heat unit in each bedroom. The bedrooms have bed linens and towels and closet space; the bathroom has hair dryer; there is an iron and ironing board as well.
The ground floor of the building has small shops with souvenirs, snacks, toiletries, and household items. There is a small pizza parlor which is to the right of the front door as you are standing on the sidewalk. It has good pizza for a decent price and a very nice owner who showed us the brand of anchovies that he used in his pizza.
Alessia, the owner is very nice and helpful with visa paperwork, changing dates of stay, arranging airport/ train station pick up, and recommending places to eat.
St. Peter's Basilica is literally a few steps to the corner of Via di Porta Cavalleggeri and Via delle Fornaci, down the tunnel that crosses the street, and up again to another square leading to the south semi-circle of columns that surrounds St. Peter's Square. The apartment is very near the Pontificia Universita Urbaniana as well. All in all, our family enjoyed having a home away from home to retreat to after a day of sight seeing. We would definitely recommend.
