For us the location of the apartment 30 meters from the Colli Albani metro stop was ideal and meant that our tired feet didn't have to do much extra than get us to that metro station! So, there was easy access to "tourist" Rome, and the neighbourhood of the apartment had sufficient restaurants, bars and gelatarias to make being there...

Management response:

Thanks so much to all of you for coming to stay with us and writing this beautiful review. I'm glad you were comfortable in the flat and enjoyed our "real Roman" neighbourhood. I look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Italy and hopefully meeting your cousins too. Sono contenta che ci siamo conosciuti. Un grande abbraccio...

This apartment is really convenient to Metro, bus, and small shops, large grocery. Hop on the metro and be in the middle of Rome in 20 minutes, but come home to a quiet residential area NOT full of tourists. Hostess makes you welcome and has thought of EVERYTHING you might need, putting together a big binder of helpful information; having...

We found 'A Haven in Rome' to be just as described, and more! Very spacious and clean apartment with many amenities such as a fully equipped and applianced kitchen, modern bath, large and comfortable living area and bedroom with plenty of storage areas. Also, the wrap around balcony gave us the additional space to relax after days of exploring this...

Management response:

Thank you, Malcolm and Patrick, for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay, were comfortable in our apartment and appreciated our "real Roman" neighbourhood. It was a pleasure to meet you and I would love to welcome you back again. Best wishes, Irene

About the neighborhood
The Colli Albani area (so called because you can see the Alban Hills - the wine making area to the south of Rome - in the distance) is in south east Rome and is a lively district with many bars, pubs, restaurants, pizzerias, supermarkets, banks and ATM's and all kinds of shops. You'll enjoy walking along the adjacent Via Appia Nuova, considered one of the best shopping streets in Rome and the nearby open air fruit and vegetable market. If you get tired of city life and want a breath of fresh air, you might want to visit the Caffarella Park (part of the "Appia Antica Regional Park"). It's just short walk away and is the most significant remaining example of ancient countryside in the city. You'll see many monuments from different ages, besides sheep grazing here a... more
