Absolument charmant

Lovely place, lovely people
We were made to feel very welcome by Ian, Axelle and June. A fascinating building, our apartment was very well kitted out. A great area for cycling and sightseeing, we didn't want to leave!

Nice, charming
"Le vieil hopital" means the old hospital and date from the XVI century, in fact! Nevertheless, the hosts manage to fulfill all modern needs, from high-speed internet to modern kitchen, bathroom etc. Axelle and Ian are most charming hosts and very nice people, always helpful with insider tips for getting to know the Provence. Though this accomodation is not very cheap, it´s excellent value for your money.

Wonderful Unique Experience
Beautiful large apartment with charming outdoor space. Owners are extremely friendly and helpful. My wife and I were travelling in southern France for 3 weeks and this was one of our most memorable stays. We really enjoyed spending time with the owners and hearing about the history of their home.

Fantastic hospitality
Our extended family rented 2 apartments from Ian and Axelle as a base to explore this part of Provence. We had no problems booking and finding the accommodation and we were welcomed warmly on our arrival. Ian and Axelle and their little girl are wonderfully warm hosts. The apartments are part of their home and they provide very warm, comfortable but self-contained accommodation. We loved the small village of Caromb and the apartments are an easy (if uphill!) walk to the town centre. It proved to be a great base for the exploration by bike and car of the surrounding area. What Ian and Axelle offer, as well as beautiful, clean and comfortable accommodation is a beautiful family ambience. We enjoyed a wine with them and listened to Axelle's beautiful music but their hospitality and interest in our family was not intrusive. Ian and Axelle provided us with lots of information and advice when we asked for it. We really enjoyed our stay at Le Vieil Hopital and would recommend it to couples and families looking for a stay that is off the beaten track with a beautiful family in an historic, wonderfully renovated building. We will definitely return when we are lucky enough to return to this gorgeous part of the world.

Great accommodation, in a great area, with great hosts,
Lovely historic accommodation in charming village. The apartments are spacious and had exactly what we needed. Highly recommended. The hosts were very welcoming and went beyond the norm to be hospitable. We'll revisit (unless everyone else books it up!)

An Amazing house with sensational hosts.
Our stay in the beautiful was beyond our dreams. It is an amazing place and it is obvious that so much love has gone into creating this wonderful accommodation. From the minute we opened the gate there is a sense of welcome and Axelle and Ian make you feel like part of the family, sharing a glass of wine and showing you through the gallery. We could not have asked for a better experience of Provence and the village of Caromb is a delight to wander through. We will take away memories to treasure.

Centuries of Hospitality.......and the tradition lives on.
We really enjoyed our welcome and our stay with Axelle and Ian which began with sharing a glass of wine, some conversation and a guided tour of the building. It was lovely to sleep within the walls of such a carefully restored old building and feel the 'stories in the stones'......and we loved the space and simple relaxing aesthetic of the apartment, which provided for all our needs very comfortably. The village offered delights with lovely lane ways to walk, historic buildings and wonderful vistas to gaze upon and some delicious pastries too. We had fun touring about on several day trips in the region with the assistance of the good local knowledge shared by our hosts.....a lovely chapter in in our travel adventure in Europe!

A fabulous place to stay with tons of character!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Vieil Hopital, the place was really special and the owners - Ian and Axelle were very friendly and welcoming. It was also a perfect location to explore the region. Everywhere we wanted to see was within easy reach. Caromb is small and lovely village, and provided the essential things we needed. We enjoyed our little visit to the weekly market! The apartment itself was clean and comfortable, and contained pretty much everything we needed for the stay. We highly recommend this place!

About the neighborhood
Caromb is situated 25 minutes from Avignon - its a small village at the foot of the Mont Ventoux mountain, wonderfully relaxed with far less tourist then those around us, yet within easy reach of all the hotspots. The village dates back to medieval times, inside the old part there are no cars, as the streets are too narrow, perfect for walking around. The house is in the original village, with local shops just a moments walk. There's two boulangerie (bakery), few cafes, two good restaurants, butcher, grocery shops, a bank machine, pharmacy, weekly farmers market and a big wine co-operative...vive la France!
