As you walk into the apartment you will be struck by the three large French windows with traditional shutters which look out onto the picturesque pedestrian street below and offer views of the sea to your right as you look out from the windows. The living area benefits from high ceilings, airconditioning, comfortable seating, a dining table large enough for six guests and a delightful writing desk. The kitchen is fully equipped (including a coffee machine) and the bathroom boasts a rain shower. The large bedrooms are accessed from a beautiful wooden staircase, a central corridor sepearates the two bedrooms, each bedroom has its own door. The beds are hand crafted and sheets Egyptian cotton. Each bedroom boasts plenty of storage space and air .conditioning/heating. The mezzanine first bedroom with glass balustrade has a comfortable double bed and the second bedroom (not a mezzanine bedroom) two comfortable single beds that can come together to form a super King-sized bed. This charming base is just a five minute stroll from the beach; six minutes walk from the station, from which you can conveniently access Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Italy; and just ten minutes from the world renowned Institut de Francais.
Please note there is a Eur 120 final cleaning fee payable to our property manager on arrival.
Although the appliances were very nice, the apartment seriously lacked utensils for cooking. Location is very good, however, renters should be warned that the apartment itself is not handicapped accessible. The absentee owner is a very pleasant person and easy to communicate with, however, I found the local agent not terribly welcoming. We were not instructed on the use of the applianced. Halfway through our two week stay I finally received the bare minimum of cooking and housekeeping items. No regular coffee pot, just espresso. We were advised to just make the espresso and water it down. The dishwasher could not be opened and there was no drain mat for the rusted drain basket. The beds were comfortable and the towels good. Bathroom well equipped but very difficult to regulate the scalding water. In some instances there were some area that were not clean, primarily the coffee table in the living area, terrible, and around the stove. Unlike other apartments in this area, there was no phone available. There was a leek in the toilet that did not bother us but I expressed my concern for environmental reason; the agent denied this indicating it only took longer to fill up the tank! Far too much space and not the best use of space.only 4 dining chairs for an apartment suitable for at least 6 persons. Most apartment have a queen sized bed. The double bed is definitely not large enough for two average sized adults; my husband is 6'4" and had to sleep in another room! I have been taking frequently extended stays at various apartments in Villefranche-sur-Mer for over more than a decade and luckily am familiar with modern appliances and protocol for renting in general. I also own three apartments on the West coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico that I manage and rent. Submitted by Seas0nedTraveler123

Nice Apartment for family
The apartment was well located in the center of town on a lovely small street. It was on the second floor, so there were many steps. It was light and airy and had a large dinning/living room open area, with a modern well equipped kitchen. The bathroom was next to the kitchen and opened out into the living/dinning area. There were steep steps that went upstairs into a very narrow hallway, with a door on each side to the bedrooms. On the right side was an enclosed bedroom with low sloped ceiling with two twin beds. On the left side was a large bedroom with high ceiling, with a double or queen sized bed, it was a loft room that was open to the downstairs.
The beds were comfortable and the location was very convenient, though up steep slopes, like much of Viilefranche su mer. The apartment had most everything you might need, including things that might have been left by the previous renters. We felt the unit could have been a bit cleaner, stains on couch, no soap in bathroom, but overall adequate.
I think it would be fine for a family, but we were two couples and I would have liked more privacy concerning the location of the bathroom and bedrooms. The 120.00 euro cleaning fee was high.

Thank you for your review, it is very much appreciated. We were glad to hear that you had an enjoyable stay and that enjoyed the convenience of the apartment and the light and airiness of it.There are two flights of stairs to reach the apartment but this is quite common place in the old town, being at the top of the building also gives more light and the advantage of not having anyone above us.
We have had many positive comments about the cleanliness of the apartment, if we fell short on this occasion I can only apologise, I have spoken to our cleaners about this and the soap in the bathroom which they have assured me is meant to be left out for guests. The cleaning fee is charged directly by our cleaners and is reviewed regularly to ensure that it is inline with other similar apartments in the area..
Thanks again for your comments
Best Wishes

Light, bright, and a perfect location!
We stayed three nights in this wonderful home. Be warned, there are LOTS of steps to and from this home, as well as from the entryway to the front door. That said, it is the perfect location from which to launch for days of adventure and exploration. Donna was welcoming and very helpful in every way. I would recommend this home to my family and friends!

Wonderful stay in Villefranche-sur-Mer
We have recently returned from a wonderful stay in Villefranche and this beautiful apartment.
Anyone visiting the town needs to be aware that it is very hilly and nearly all of the accommodation in the old town will require you to climb stairs. Therefore this is definitely not a town for anyone with mobility issues. That said, there is no need to visit a gym as you get plenty of exercise!
We were met by Donna on arrival, and luckily could check in slightly earlier than anticipated. The air conditioning was a real god send, in fact it was so effective that sometimes we got a little too cold. The apartment itself is very contemporary, the beds are extremely comfortable and the kitchen appliances were all great and easy to use. There is a full size fridge which came in very handy.
The washing machine was not working when we arrived and Donna kindly offered to do any laundry for us, but this did not bother us. I don't go on holiday to do washing. Also, the sauna wasn't working. Not sure if this is a permanent thing, if so the property description should be amended. Whilst my husband and I could think of nothing worse than sitting in a sauna when it's 85 degrees outside, my teenage son was looking forward to trying it out. Not a big deal but would save any possible disappointment.
The only constructive feedback I can offer on the accommodation is the lack of beach towels. Whilst beach towels were available at an additional 5 euros a towel, I did feel this to be a little cheeky considering the amount paid for the apartment and the 120 euro cleaning fee on top. All other apartments we've stayed in have always offered these free of charge.
Also, a microwave could be a useful addition to the apartment. Not a must, just a suggestion.
The town itself is really beautiful, lots of lovely restaurants. The ones on the waterfront are obviously more expensive and actually I don't believe the food to be any better than the restaurants slightly off the main waterfront.
The restaurants we particularly enjoyed were Les Palmiers, La Caravelle, La Cuisine and Lou Bantry (on the front).
We were lucky enough to be in town during the Monaco fireworks competition and took a cruise from Villefranche to Monaco to see the fireworks on the Saturday evening. Cost around 27 euros for adults. You book this at the marina. It was a lovely evening, shame they only do it for 4 weekends during the summer.
There is a train station in the town with direct trains to Monaco (10 mins), Nice (5 mins) and Cannes (45 mins). It's a great town to explore the French Riviera.
The town beach is lovely but very pebbly and does get busy especially at the weekend. I'm sure there are nicer beaches elsewhere but it was just fine for us to chill out on.
I would certain recommend visiting the area and would definitely recommend staying at Puja's apartment. It really is a delight (but be mindful of the stairs!)

Perfect location in the old town.
The apartment is on the top floor of an historic building in the old town close to restaurants and an easy walk to all the sites. Our host was very helpful and met us as arranged.

Old town. Villegranche sur mer
We have just returned from a fabulous week in Villefranche sur mer. Our apartment on Rue de May was beautiful, spacious and airy as described. It is well appointed and we were pleased to make use of the dishwasher and washing machines. The apartment is centrally situated and a great base to explore the Cote D'Azur. We enjoyed the beach as well as eating and drinking in the many local restaurants. We were met by Donna who was very friendly and informative. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, bearing in mind that you have be in good shape in order to climb up and down all the stairs both in the old town itself, and also to reach the top floor apartment.

Heart of old town
This little apartment was centrally located with several nice restaurants and little market just steps away. Villefranche sur myer is not for the weak or disabled. Lots of steep stone steps, apartment with narrow hall and stairs.
With church directly behind building, no sleeping in! Bells ring every hour starting at 7 am.

My little home away from home
Firstly I would like commend not only Suzanne, the property manager, but the owners on their professionalism. Despite having to cancel a booking at this beautiful property some months earlier, all of my contact requests were responded to within a short period of time and their combined assistance was invaluable.
And now to the lovely apartment. It is as described on the website; light and airy, extremely spacious and well equipped. While modernised to an excellent standard, it retains it's charm, being part of an old and typical building of the Old Town. It is perfectly located, close to restaurants, a small Casino supermarket, an excellent butcher and patisserie.
There are a number of steep steps in the building up to the apartment, however and so it is not recommended for those who are not extremely mobile. I enjoyed the exercise!
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this apartment and will return myself to enjoy its ambience.

Villefranche sur Mer is one of the most charming locations on the French Riviera , in the heart of the Cote d'Azur. The colourful homes in the old town cascade down toward the sea and retaining their charm and authenticaty. The old town is a wonderful place to relax, eat and drink, just minutes from the seafront and beach with its calm blue waters and reputed to be one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
