In a beautiful mellow stone building, just a stone's throw from the Pope's Palace, this spacious apartment is a tranquil haven from the hustle and bustle of Avignon's historic streets. The apartment is situated on the first floor on the far side of the building and away from the street entrance. Rue de la Balance has very restricted vehicle access but underground parking is available a street away at the Pope's Palace. The best of all worlds - 'plein centre - au calme' Right in the centre but quiet! The famous Pont d'Avignon is only minutes away as are the museums, galleries, opera house, restaurants, bars, and shops - so everything is right on your doorstep - perfect for a city break or as a base for touring 'la belle Provence'. The large terrace is furnished with table, chairs and parasol - perfect for sunny breakfasts and warm evenings. You can almost feel the history seeping from the ancient stone buildings!More

About the neighborhood
The city walls of almost 5 kms surround a wealth of monuments and historic buildings: The Pope's Palace, with walls 4 metres thick and up to 50 metres high, The 12th century Cathedral of Notre-Dame, The Pont Saint Benezet, well known from the old nursery song 'Sur le Pont', the Musee Calvet housing antiques, sculptures and a wonderful collection of paintings. The famous Avignon Festival takes place throughout July each year. For a relaxing day out, including lunch on board, take a river boat down the Rhone to visit Arles. On the right bank of the Rhone and with great views to Avignon itself is Villeneuve lez Avignon, the town of Cardinals - the 12th century tower, Fort St Andre and the Chartreuse are all well worth visiting. Tours can be arranged by the tourist information offices.
How to get there
By train - TGV and Eurostar direct to Avignon make this ideal for a car free holiday. By air - airports at Avignon, Marseille, Nimes. By car - autoroute du soleil A7 with underground parking at the Pope's Palace
