Location: The Saint Antoine Chapel is located behind Avenue de la Republique, central axis of Avignon. You have the advantage of being close to the shops without the noise of traffic. From the rosette of the loft of the Chapel, side kitchen, the sight is cleared on "his big sister", the Church Saint Didier, built at the same time. His bells sound a lovely melody three times a day, the same ritual for centuries. History of this unusual building: This church built for the order of the Antonines served as a refuge to Benoit XIII who was the last pope of Avignon. It was desecrated to the French revolution and in 1970 became an Institute of American Universities. The living room is about 120 m2 with a tuned quarterback piano, library, sound system, air conditioning. A master bedroom in the former apse of the church (semi-stone sphere) with a king-size bed 180x200cm, air conditioning, satellite TV. A bathroom with bath, stone shower, separate toilet. The second bedroom is 11 m2 with two single beds 80x200cm. On the mezzanine of the loft, a large open kitchen with a beautiful church window, old rose window (piano gas kitchen, oven, dishwasher). Back kitchen: fridge cabinet with freezer. Large table and chairs for 8 people, couch for napping. The third bedroom with a double bed is on the 1st floor, its shower room with separate WC is on the ground floor. Broadband Internet thanks to fiber optics.More

We loved staying in this 13th century chapel in the walled town of Avignon. We felt like royalty. The renovation has been done very sympathetically, bringing all modern conveniences, including a superb kitchen and air-conditioning, to this heritage stone building.
