Recently beautifully refurbished studio apartment in a converted 18th Century Merchants house in the Heart of Bastide Saint Louis, Carcassonne. Retaining loads of original features and sympathetically refurbished to offer needed relief from the demands of modern living with luxurious detailing. High ceilings and high-spec apartment in a great setting
My wife Anne and I spent a really relaxing and pleasant three nights here. The apartment stayed cool when the weather got hot, preventing us needing the air conditioning. We were welcomed by John who was very friendly and informative. We were delighted to find many items over and above ones we have come to expect: wine, milk, upmarket toiletries and coffee pods for the machine. Everywhere in the Bastide is easily walkable; La Cite too, except in strong heat. We'd recommend you spend a little time exploring the relatively unheralded St Michael Cathedral within a stone's throw of the apartment. Too close to ignore if you like medieval buildings.

a perfect place for a wonderful holiday
The location is absolutely perfect. There are lots of nice restaurants just around the corner. The bastide is within walking distance and you can always find a space to park your car. There are wonderful destinations nearby like Albi, Fontfroide, Narbonne, Toulouse, small villages and abbeys for day trips. The apartment is spacious and you find everything you need. Including a little garden to have your coffee there. John our host was so nice and friendly and helpful. He really cares about his guests. You will notice small details like chocolates with the Nespresso, shower gels and luxury cotton pads and milk and water in the fridge.

Great place to stay. Beautifully presented and have stayed here many times. Very convenient to shops and restaurants and such a comfortable and well equipped place. Beautiful place to stay!

Hello world, we've missed you!
Holidays are back on the menu, and they sure taste good! Our host John made every aspect of the stay a warm, welcoming and delightful experience, from collecting us at the airport, to generous, thoughtful additions in the apartment of regional wine and bread, not to mention his helpful local knowledge which ensured we got the best from our trip. The apartment itself is stunning. The high ceiling offers a spacious and airy quality, while every detail within has been carefully considered and finished to the highest standards. Comfortable, practical and luxurious. The additional shared-space walled garden/courtyard acts as a sanctuary from the city heat or offers a tranquil start to the day with coffee and pastries from the boulangerie around the corner. If you're ready to step out early, Suite Voltaire is ideally situated only a stone's throw from Place Carnot, exactly where you want to be to soak up the local atmosphere as you sit over morning coffee or afternoon aperitifs. Everything is within walking distance from here, whether you're heading to La Cité for the history or the Canal du Midi for a peaceful stroll. Bike rental is also available 2 mins from the apartment, while the train station is only a little further. The perfect base to savour a slice of French living. Many thanks to John, we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Stunning spacious studio apartment - a little bit of luxury!
We would highly recommend this beautifully decorated studio apartment. Studio can mean small, but in this case it was a huge space, tall ceilings and windows, cleverly hidden kitchen area, luxurious bathroom and top quality bedding and towels. There wasn't anything that we didn't like. Well located close to the Place Carnot and within easy walking distance to the Cite. An added bonus was the shaded courtyard garden. John checked us in and out of the apartment, letting us spend more time on the last day to avoid the walk of shame with our cases! An easy weekend away, make sure to get the shuttle bus from the airport which drops you basically at the end of Rue Voltaire (The Dome stop). We enjoyed the Cite, a canal boat ride, the Museum of Fine Arts where we came upon a free music performance one evening. All in all, highly recommended. Book with confidence, all the good reviews can be trusted. Thanks John

Our 3 day. Stay in suite Voltaire
We had a very relaxing time in this lovely self catering suite. Everything is such high standard. A very pleasant place to stay in easy reach of the town and it's lovely shops , market Square. The restaurant le 4 Temps is 3 minutes away and the very best in town. We loved it. The owner John is very kind and helpful person. We found the whole experience very relaxing.

Stylish, convenient, with fantastic unexpected extras
This apartment was a highlight of the many we stayed in during 6 weeks travelling in Europe. Elegant décor and quality fittings, very comfortable bedding options and thoughtful extras like fresh milk in the fridge, a carafe of wine, personalised brochures and advice in response to our interests. Great internet and Apple TV. Convenient to everything we wanted to do in Carcassonne.

Just back from Carcassonne
From start to finish we were thrilled with our six nights in this beautiful studio apartment. Greeted by John who had left local wine, water and milk for us. Lovely touch. Studio very luxurious and comfortable, particularly loved the huge wet room with beautiful fittings. So tastefully done.John recommended restaurants close by, all of which were excellent.Location perfect. No need for a car. Walked everywhere. At the end of our stay, John insisted on leaving us to the train station. We have already recommended this apartment to our friends and would love to go back there in the future. Many thanks John. Excellent stay
Being collected at the airport by our host, John O, was the start of a great weekend stay. Suite Voltaire is exceptional 5 star quality, excellent location and we have already recommended it to friends and family. Loved the bathroom, entertainment, selection of coffee, furnishings and all of the small touches that make Suite Voltaire unique. Will be back.

Great Flat in an Ideal Location
Suite Voltaire is in an ideal location for exploring Carcassonne and the surrounding area. There is ample parking nearby, which can be a challenge in many other small towns. It i the perfect location to walk up to the Le Cite or for exploring the many shops and restaurants of the lower town. We arrived to find everything we would need for a stay at our fingertips...guide books, restaurant suggestions, even an assortment of great coffees!

Carcassonne airport is only 10 mins away from the apartment, with the airport bus stop at the end of the street at 'la dome'. The airport is served by Ryanair with flights from Glasgow Prestwick, Liverpool, East Midlands, London Stanstead & Bournemouth in the U.K, as well as Dublin & Cork in ROI. Toulouse is only 1 hour away and the Airport serves lots of other cities & carriers from UK & ROI airports. From Toulouse airport there are buses every 20 minutes to & from train station & airport. Beziers airport is another option, with Ryanair opening more routes to this handy little airport every year, with Manchester, London Luton, Edinburgh & Bristol being added recently . Why not think about a two destination vacation, with Barcelona & Girona airports only being between 2 1/4 - 3 hours drive away. The options of getting here from the UK/ROI by a short flight really are plentiful.
