La Maison de Marc is the converted farmhouse of La Chartreuse du Maine, and is one of three vacation homes located on the property, around the courtyard. Le Maine is situated in the peaceful countryside, at the edge of the small village of Cubjac, just five minutes walk from the local shops and weekly farmers' market. The estate encompasses 63 acres of gardens, meadows and wooded paths. In the middle of a meadow filled with wild flowers, the swimming pool is an ideal spot to relax. The unique situation of Le Maine in the centre of the Dordogne region makes it the perfect base to explore the many châteaux, villages, prehistoric caves, markets and wine yards of the area. Recently restored in the Périgord purest tradition, this south-facing farmhouse has kept all its original features, including exposed beams, honey colored limestone walls and stone fireplace, which highlight its charm and authenticity. The interior design was conceived to offer you a warm and refined comfort down to the smallest details. You can also enjoy delightful dinners al fresco in the private garden. La Maison de Marc accommodates 4 people, with one double and one twin bedroom all on the ground floor. This farmhouse is ideal for families with teenagers or young children and people with disabilities. We, Catherine and Maxence, live permanently on site and are more than happy to welcome you to La Chartreuse du Maine, our family home for four generations. Discover another Dordogne than the one on the holiday brochures. Our passion and local knowledge will allow you an intimate, authentic and unforgettable taste of the real Périgord. More

Interaction with guests
Catherine and Maxence, your French English-speaking hosts, are living on-site. We are happy to welcome you personally and show you around your house and the estate. We are happy to help on any aspects of your stay with suggestions regarding what to see and what to do, history of the region, shops, restaurants, wineries and vineyards, restaurant bookings, markets of local produce, and so much more… We lend you a 'Magic map' where best places and scenic backroads are highlighted, so you can make the most of your stay. We can intervene immediately in case of problem regarding household appliances or else. This can be very useful ! Though we are very discrete hosts, when we meet in the estate, we love to chat with our guests !

About the neighborhood
Le Maine benefits from its unique location in the center of the Dordogne region, close to Sarlat and any major attraction the area has to offer, whilst being in the peaceful countryside, away from the crowds, a little off the beaten track. Guests really appreciate coming back to the peace and quiet of La Chartreuse du Maine after a day visit around Brantome, Sarlat and along the Dordogne Valley. After the buzz and activity of the major sites, the tranquillity of this traditional corner of the Périgord is invaluable. From Le Maine you can walk or go bike riding amidst the surrounding countryside and villages. The Auvézère river, which runs through Cubjac, is perfect for canoe rides. Nearby, children will love tree walking and aqua parks.
Getting around
We are located in the countryside. To see the many sights of interest our wonderful region has to offer, a car is necessary.
