About the neighborhood
Dairy Cottage is in a lovely rural location, set in a pretty 'olde worlde' listed farm. There are transport links to get you to the beach, the woods or into town, There is a walk across the field that takes you to the village hall and onto the footpath along the road to the Village of Roughton (about 15 mins), and local pub selling real ale, pub food and restaurant. There is also a 24 hr garage with an extensive 'mini mart' and off licence, plus an award winning Fish and Chip shop & Restaurant, there is also the Village medieval Saxon round tower Church. There are lovely walks all around including Felbrigg Hall and Gardens cared for by the National Trust Felbrigg Hall is a Jacobean Hall with walled gardens, Parkland and Lake & Cafe.
Getting around
There are busses but a car is recommended. If you are looking for a beach Cromer is the nearest, with a lovely old theatre on the pier, that is well worth a visit. Cromer is a typical victorian sea-side town, with crab fishing boats, Pubs, ice cream, and lovely 'fresh fish & chip' shops. Holkam Gap is just up the coast along, as is Victorian Sheringham and Overstrand (with a steep climb down the cliff it has dog friendly beaches). Dog friendly beaches are all along the coast, apart from the beaches that are in the towns. Bacton beach is one that we use with the 'Poachers Pocket,' a dog friendly Pub, serving food, overlooking the beach.
