Hidden gem
Stayed at the retreat just after Xmas and new year for the first time. The retreat is a perfect location for all amenities and walking distance for shops and bars, warm and cosy comfortable place to stay with plenty of storage, utilities ect. The log burner is a main feature in the retreat which makes it very warm and cosy, it was peacefully quite and relaxing and will definitely be visiting here again. More than enough space for 2 people with private parking 😃👍👍

Amazing post-valentines getaway!
We absolutely adored this wee hideaway and we were especially fond of the wood burner in the living room. The place was clean and well-equipped when we found it and all of the facilities and implements are good quality and work well. All in all, a very cosy retreat and especially perfect for couples! Xx

Location
Perfect wee couples retreat for exploring Aviemore. Shops pubs and restaurants only a few minutes walk away and lots of cycle paths and walking trails close by. Our car never budged from the on-site parking for the duration of our stay. Very clean and comfortable with very nice large tiled shower room. Appreciated all the wee extras like washing up liquid, tea and coffee. The log fire is great to cosy up to in the evenings.

Perfect Christmas Stay
We arrived on foot by train and The Retreat is only a 10 min walk away, so therefore a 10 min walk away from all shops, restaurants, pubs, Tesco, butchers, and everything in the centre of Aviemore. The property is very well furnished, large enough for two people, with a well appointed kitchen and lovely bedroom/comfortable bed. The photos supplied are 100% accurate... Everything needed for our stay was available including plenty of logs for the woodburner. We met one of the owners while there who was friendly and helpful and made it very clear that if we needed anything at all just to knock on the main house. All in all, this is our 5th stay in Aviemore, but the best self catering so far and we are already trying to make plans so we can stay here again next Xmas! Thanks for making our holiday season more enjoyable.

Excellent
The Retreat is a perfect spot for two. Very comfortable and homely. The decor, furnishings and fittings are all to a high standard. It is spotlessly clean and contains everything you would need for a pleasant stay. The owners were lovely. It is a short, flat walk into Aviemore. Parking is at the cottage door. The woodburner was a lovely feature which, since the weather was mild, we didn't use. If the weather was colder it would be essential as it is the only form of heating in the living area. When showering and dressing in the morning we switched on the panel heater in the bedroom and the tall towel heater in the shower/wc area. The bedroom with the king sized bed was well equiped and very comfortable and the shower and separate toilet area were lovely although the entrance/exit to the shower was tricky because of a high step. Care was required. Would I return to The Retreat - most definately. Would I recommend - absolutely.

Well furnished and comfortable accommodation
We enjoyed our stay and the wood burner but were a little chilly when it wasn't light. Good comfortable bed and very cosy duvet. I think Aviemore is more suited to able bodied young people.

nice place, close to aviemore
comfortable place. good size for two people. lovely bed. parking right outside. ten minute walk into the centre of Aviemore where there are restaurants/pubs. There is a good sized Tesco express. minor point - no grill tray for oven and I wonder if it might be colder in the winter. there is a heated towel rail in the bathroom and an electric wall heater in the bedroom. the long burner is the main heat so could do with a fan heater or something supplementary if you don't want to light that and wait for heat.

CUTE AND COSY
We have just had a lovely 5 day stay at The Retreat and were not disappointed. For 2 Fifty somethings in need of some belated rest and relaxation this was just what the doctor ordered. It is clean, spacious and well equipped. The bed was extremely comfy and there were plenty of drawers and cupboard space. The wood burning stove was warm and welcoming, especially after returning from skiing on the Cairngorm mountain. Whilst the shower is a double modern shower, care should be taken when getting out as the ledge is narrow. It is not suitable for the elderly or anyone with any mobility needs. We would also ask for consideration for a bigger TV. The Retreat is very well positioned in Aviemore and within walking distance of the town and all the amenities. We were able to hire ski equipment from one of the Outdoor stores, Ellis Brigham. Staff there were very good and stayed past the working day top ensure that we had everything we needed. We drove the 15 mins out of town up to the Cairngorm mountain. The scenery was spectacular. Whilst we had skied before its fair to say we were somewhat wooden. As such we had a 2 hr ski lesson booked there on arrival which was good value for money. We had to hire helmets separately from here. We had 2 excellent days skiing but sadly the warmer weather was against us and many of the runs were closed. We then set off exploring and visited the coast, local golf clubs, and the Cairngorm brewery. Not being a beer drinker I can honestly say I was very pleasantly surprised at my liking to some of the bottles on offer. Well you would after they give you a taste of all 10! We would recommend to eat at both the Winking Owl in Aviemore and Andersons in Boat in Garten. All in all a fabulous break away and we shall certainly return to the Retreat if we come back to Aviemore.
