This is a gorgeous Georgian apartment in the heart of Edinburgh's laid back West End, situated less than 5 minutes walk from Princes' Street. The flat is beautifully decorated and is packed full of Scottish fabrics, original Scottish paintings and drawings, warm colours and heaps of personality. It's a great base from which to explore Edinburgh on foot, and once you're worn out from a great day of shopping or sightseeing there's a fab kitchen in the apartment and a wood burning stove for a cosy night in. For the more energetic just dump the shopping bags, get the 'glad rags' on and walk a few hundred yards to some of the best bars and restaurants that Edinburgh has to offer. After a few nights here you're almost guaranteed to feel Scottish and you certainly won't want to leave!

We were very pleased with our week long stay at The Snug. The location was excellent; trams/train/buses were all within easy walking distance and there were some wonderful restaurants and bars in the area. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, and it was lovely to have a bathtub. Communication with the host was excellent.

What an absolutely perfect place to stay! The place is immaculate, beautifully accesorised with luxurious fabrics and the furniture and beds are sumptuous beyond belief. The artwork is stunning and it felt really special to stay here.
We made great breakfasts in the very well equipped kitchen. I loved the shower, could have stood there for hours......but there was a city to explore!
It is in walking distance of everywhere we wanted to visit including the castle, Haymarket station and so many great places. There is an ice cream parlour in the garden below the castle and I highly recommend the mango sorbet. I also recommend The Ivy on the square restaurant for an unforgetable meal with great service.
I loved the big windows looking over the rooftops and into the pretty street below.
I really enjoyed staying in the snug and can't wait to come back. It's utterly perfect and the hosts clearly care a great deal about giving their guests a comfortable, memorable, very special experience.

Special touches made it feel like home!
I agree with all the obvious the other reviewers have noted including great location plus the ambiance of the "snug" was fabulous and made an enjoyable "home" for the week we spent in Edinburgh. We were also impressed by the staff at The Voyage of Buck restaurant who made us feel welcomed and a "part of the neighborhood".
The owner Mark was responsive, and made various recommendations from restaurants to shopping and had left a welcome packet in the flat of basics to welcome us. I HIGHLY recommend the William Street Snug!

Excellent location, comfortable stay
We had a fantastic week staying in the 2-bedroom Snug. Comfortably appointed with thoughtful touches to make it feel like home away from home. We walked all over the city from our base there. There are three pubs in very close proximity, and we enjoyed the sounds of the street’s life drifting up to the flat. Could also see fireworks from the Tattoo each night, behind the Charlotte Chapel tower. Short walk to Sainsburys express for groceries and cafes nearby for morning coffee. Only about 200m to the airport tram stop and/or the airline bus stop. Owner Andy was super-responsive both before and during our stay.

What more can you ask for?
It was our second time in the Snug. We are fans and friends of the Fringe. This time, we stayed for one week. And this is indeed a perfect place to stay during the Festival. You will find a very comfortable flat in William Street with plenty of room and advantages even for four persons.
Very close to the flat, there is a nice pub which also offers good food. Around the corner you have the super market Sainsbury and the bus stations in case you prefer not to walk to the Fringe venues.
Andy, the host, who is a very friendly and flexible person will surprise you with a welcome kit. I mean to say: there is really nothing more that you can ask for!
We will definitely return to the Snug.

Aptly named in a great location!
Perfect location for all Edinburgh has to offer. Short walk to Princes Street. High quality accommodation, well-equipped and a nice touch of a welcome pack.Lots of space for 4 people. Need to be aware that you can only park up to 4 hours near the property. Very quiet area, considering the property is above 2 pubs with another across the road.

Comfortable rugby weekend
My cousin & I stayed here for a long weekend for a trip to the rugby. The location could not be better for access to the city centre and a walkable distance to Murrayfield. There are shops, bars and restaurants literally on the doorstep, so not too far to go for anything. The flat is a typical Edinburgh-style,which has been tastefully & sympathetically refurbished. It has a well-appointed kitchen with a great selection of cooking utensils - better than most flats I have stayed in previously. The bedrooms are very comfortable and although one of them is above the Melville Bar, my cousin did not find the noise too disturbing. The bedroom to the rear of the flat is very quiet. The bathroom is small, but perfectly adequate & is fitted with a rain-shower over the bath. All-in-all a very good place to stay for anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Second time visiting the Snug - and it won't be the last! Can't recommend highly enough! Great location - central but quiet, warm and comfortable, beautifully decorated with wonderful art work and textiles. Will definitely be returning!

The Airport Bus and Edinburgh Tram stop (West End) is just a few hundred yards away from the apartment on Shandwick Place making it very easy to get to the apartment from the airport.
Haymarket train station is a 5 minute walk away from the apartment but if you can't bear to walk the Edinburgh Tram will whisk you along to Shandick Place/West End in about 2 minutes. Waverley train station is a 10 minute walk but again you could jump on the Edinburgh Tram* at St Andrew's Square and be along at the West End stop in about 3 minutes.
If you are travelling to Edinburgh by car there is handy on street parking that is metered just outside of the apartment. I recommend using the 'Ringo app' on your phone to control your parking if you wish to keep your car on the meter and close at hand. If you prefer to 'dump' the car and hit the pavement/trams for the duration of your stay (highly recommended!!) then there is a large NCP car park at Castle Terrace which is a short walk away from the apartment. If you wish to park your car for free (well almost - just the price of a tram ticket) then it is possible to leave your car outside of the parking zones near Murrayfield and then jump on the tram for the few minutes ride to just around the corner from the apartment. If you need more details on this option please let me know.
