About the neighborhood
Broughty Ferry is an historic seaside town located on the banks of the Tay estuary. There is a beautiful sandy beach and harbour, and a 13th century castle. It has many original waterfront cottages, and cosy award-winning pubs and restaurants catering to all types of cuisine in its vibrant centre. There is an award winning ice-cream parlour and traditional fish and chip shop. Broughty Ferry is a gourmet delight! The Tay estuary is at the front of the cottage with fantastic views across to Fife. There are excellent nature walks just yards from the front door of the cottage as well as easy access to National Cycle network. This has one of the longest stretch of off-road cycling in the country connecting Broughty Ferry to Fife and St Andrews .
Getting around
There is a regular bus service ( every 10 minutes or so) into central Broughty Ferry, Dundee and Monifieth. There is also sleepy little South Balmossie train station a short walk from the cottage and it operates a once a day service to Carnoustie and Dundee. Broughty Ferry train station has regular services to Dundee and beyond to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Aberdeen. Central Broughty Ferry is a beautiful 25 minute walk along an award winning beach- or 5 minutes on a bus which runs every 10 minutes . Central monifieth and Monifieth Beach are a 15 minute walk and again , this can be done along a coastal beach path . Three lots of excitement in the area about the new V&A Museum - very much worth a visit!
