Barcaldine cottage is set in a charming cul-de-sac.
Within 20 minutes walking distance of the town centre (downhill going, uphill returning) and Oban's main attractions.
The cottage has a lovely patio with dining area and BBQ. There is also a grassed area and driveway with ample parking for 2 cars.
Tucked away in the suburbs of Oban. A quiet and relaxing location in a clean and spacious semi-detached cottage that's a home away from home. Happily return to stay.

Oban in the autumn
Beautifully equipped home from home, loads of extras including welcome pack of local produce. Oban beautiful and busy as always, weather mixed, warm sunny to dreich.

Fantastic Cottage
Back again for the fourth year running a) because we love Oban so much and b) because I would not book any other accommodation in Oban apart from Barcaldine.
This cottage is brilliant. It might be slightly up the hill from Oban centre but that is not a problem. It is quiet and peaceful and there are plently of busses to take you down to the centre and if you miss the last bus back a taxis costs you all of £5.50.
The cottage is gorgeous with every amenity you would need including a washing machine, a microwave, a fridge freezer, a slow cooker and gorgeous outside seating if the weather permits.
A few minutes down the road in the car are Tesco, Aldi and Lidl so shopping for food is no problem.
You do not need your car to get into Oban. The buses are fairly frequent and there is a timetable for them in the book in the house.
The parking in Oban is excellent. After 6pm you can park for free so if you want to take your car you can, although I would suggest you avoid the weekends.
This is my go to place for accommodation in Oban and we as a family adore it.

Lovely Cottage
Lovely cottage in a very quiet setting but not to far from the centre of Oban . The cottage was clean cosy and comfortable with a lovely welcome pack provided by the owners whom we had excellent contact with. Visited many stunning places especially Luing Mull Lismore and Kerrera all well worth a trip if you like beautiful scenery and lovely walks
Would thoroughly recommend and thank you again to the owners they know why

Home from home
A lovely home, clean, comfortable, quiet, everything supplied for a true home from home experience. Beds were so comfortable. The welcome basket a real treat. Would highly recommend.

Great Base
Barcaldine is a lovely wee semi detached bungalow on a modern culdesac within walking distance of all that Oban town centre has to offer.
The property has nice outdoor space too if the sun shines.
Very well equipped and spotlessly clean makes this an ideal place to explore Argyll

Lovely stay at Baracaldine
We stayed at Baracaldine cottage for 4 nights , leading up to our stay , Caroline was very helpful and informative and gave us suggestions of where to eat and visit . The cottage is set in a peaceful cul de sac and is set back off the main road . The cottage is very homely and has everything you need for a comfortable stay . We had been given a lovely basket of goodies , such a nice gesture .
The cottage is just outside of Oban, it’s about a 20min walk into the town ( down hill ) , we never used our car to drive into Oban, we walked in and got buses back as they were frequent.
It’s best to book restaurants, boat tours, ferries in advance . We booked a table at Eeusk , thanks Caroline it was lovely . If your interested in the Oban whiskey distillery again it’s best to book in advance due to covid the distillery are only booking small numbers .
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Baracaldine , and we would definitely return .

Back Again for the Third Year Running
Again, given the Covid pandemic and various lockdowns I didn't book a holiday for this year until March so once again I contacted Caroline and asked what she had available for July.
Because there were people who had booked the cottage for the week after us she asked if we would mind booking the Friday to the Friday to give her extra time to clean the cottage. This was not a problem for us, indeed it gave us a whole Saturday in Oban which was a bonus.
Once again I cannot emphasis how brilliant and comfortable this cottage is. It is slightly outside the centre of Oban but it has a regular bus service (every 20 mins) and Caroline has the bus timetable in the book in the cottage. It is a 5 min journey on the bus into Oban and about a 15 min walk down hill. If you decide to get a taxi back at night it will cost you no more than £5.
Tesco, Aldi and Lidl are just down the road, about two minutes in the car at most.
This is the third year running I have booked this cottage, partially because of the covid crisis, but also because the cottage is fantastic and Caroline is so helpful.
I can honestly say that anytime we plan to holiday in Oban again Caroline will be my first port of call for accommodation.

Lovely well equipped cottage in perfect location
Lovely comfortable cottage, well equipped and within easy walking distance to the centre of Oban. Sunny patio area where you can sit and enjoy a drink or a coffee.
A great base from which to explore the area and take a boat trip to the islands. Early booking is a must as the Calmac ferry is very popular.

Cosy Cottage in beautiful Oban
Lovely stay in charming Barcaldine Cottage, Oban. Well equipped and comfortable accommodation with comfy beds and everything you could want for your stay. Caroline also left a lovely "goody basket" for our arrival. Situated in an excellent spot to access shops and other amenities. Highly recommended.

Oban is a lovely, quaint town located in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. Oban bay enjoys fantastic views overlooking the islands of Kerrera and Mull. On a summer's evening Oban bay boasts some spectacular sunsets.
There is a wide variety of eateries selling fresh, local produce. For those with a sweet tooth the Chocolate Factory is a must. There are also some lovely arts and crafts shops dotted around the town.
There is plenty to do in Oban with opportunities to go on boat trips, take part in outdoor activities, enjoy a game of golf or a spot of fishing.There is also a leisure centre with a soft play area and a cinema showing all the latest releases. McCaig's Tower and the Oban Distillery are also worth a visit.
Within walking distance of the town is Ganavan Sands. Slightly more further afield is the lovely Tralee Bay in Benderloch, approx 8 miles from Oban.
Events for 2015 include the National Mod from 9 to 17 October and the return of the Winter Festival from 20 to 29 November.

Driving north from Glasgow at Tarbet you can either take the A82 Loch Lomond route, which is the most direct route, or the A83 driving through Arrochar, around Loch Long and on and over the Rest and Be Thankful. This route is via the picturesque town of Inveraray.
