Just Perfect Peace and Quiet
Crosple Cottage is a delight, beautifully designed to be just right for 2 people. Every window has been positioned to frame a view. The furnishings and equipment are of excellent quality and I have never rented a house with such a wide selection of books. The wildlife was great – in the garden we saw buzzards, a red squirrel, dragonflies and bats at dusk. Nighttime, we enjoyed listening to the owls and seeing the stars in true darkness. The cottage is close enough to the loch for an early morning swim, brief but refreshing. There are many local walks and interesting projects to increase biodiversity. We explored the local area as far south as the Crinan Canal, out to the Slate Islands, and north to Kerrera. It was lovely to be greeted with garden flowers, cake and wine. The day we left was so glorious that we detoured to climb Ben Sgulaird. Fantastic views out to sea and over the surrounding hills.

Luxurious Crosple cottage
Idyllic location amidst misty mountains and sea loch views. Awaking to the sounds of oyster catchers and herons, night-time silence is only broken by forest owls and the wind in the trees - this is the place to unwind. This well appointed cottage has mountain and loch views. It has been built and decorated to very high standards, log burner and heating ensure that even in misty rainy days you are comforted and can enjoy a book curled up by the window. A car is essential to get to the towns, however there are plenty of walks, historic stone circles and ancient sites to explore within an half hour’s drive. We enjoyed the area around the Crinan Canal, and recommend that bookings be made of any plans to eat out as places get booked up well ahead. The owners are in the village on hand should anything be amiss, however the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation meant that our stay was perfect.

Perfect hygge
We first booked this lovely cottage for Spring 2020 and had to change the booking four times. Rory was happy to change the bookings every time. And once we get there it was worth the wait. We felt very welcomed. On our first drive up the hill we met the lambs which with we had many a nice encounter. The cottage looks very inviting and beautiful from every angle and the same feeling continues inside. Interior design is modern and cosy. Functioning mudroom, welcoming stairs up, good laundry room with easy to operate washing machine and dryer. Livingroom with enough space and different comfy sofas opens to the kitchen with everything you will need. And you can also barbecue outside. This is a place for hygge. In upstairs nice bedroom and bathroom with a view! Everything is in excellent condition. The cottages’ location is excellent for day trips to Arran and Mull, and of course excursions all around the mainland. Walking up the hill is highly recommended - the views are awesome. These six days we will remember the rest of our lives.

The place that feels like home........
We were going to start this review by saying "Please don't book Crosple Cottage" as you will fall in love with the place and won't want anyone else to stay there, just in case you cannot get booked for your next visit! We have now stayed at the cottage on at least 8 occasions and feel "we are home" when at Crosple. The cottage is located close to Loch Melfort and offers 360-degree stunning panoramic views of the loch and the surrounding area. Nothing beats sitting out at the rear of the cottage, having your first coffee of the day, and gazing down the Loch, lost in your own wee world. It gets even better at sunset with the last of the day's rays hitting the hills opposite the Loch, just as you are having your evening meal, we sometimes argue over the "best seat"! The surrounding area has a lot to offer and Argyllshire is one of the most stunning parts of Scotland. Oban is just 17 miles away and is the gateway to Mull and various other islands. Some of the close-by islands can even be reached within minutes using the smaller ferries. Oban also offers good shopping, eating, and drinking, particularly if you like a wee malt or two - it even has its own distillery! Other areas to visit north of Melfort are the Slate islands which can be accessed via the Atlantic Bridge (yes a real bridge over the Atlantic) and small ferries. South of Loch Melfort you will find the mysterious Kilmartin Glen with its standing stones, forts, and cairns, well worth a visit. Crinan Canal is not too far from Kilmartin and local shops can be found in Lochgilphead (1/2 hour journey). As I said above we have stayed at Crosple 8 times now and find somewhere new to visit, or re-visit, every year. If you are into photography make sure you bring along spare memory cards and batteries! The cottage has everything you need for a short or longer break and it always looks "just like new" when you arrive. All amenities are modern and there is even a log burning fire for those chillier evenings. The cottage also has Wifi and a decent mobile connection to the outside world, for those of you who cannot totally escape, but it does let you upload your photographs of the stunning scenery so you can reminisce about your time at Crosple. Rory and Jenny are fantastic hosts and it is always a pleasure to catch up with them when you arrive or leave the cottage. In between they just let you get on with your break, but are easily contactable if you need to do so. PS you will also get to know the sheep pretty well and it's fantastic during lambing season when you can sit and watch the lambs playing! So, in summary, you will love your stay at Crosple Cottage and you may even fall in love with the place like we have. We will definitely be returning next year and looking forward to our next visit already. Steven and Tracy x

Thank you so much for your review. We have so many lovely comments in our visitors' book for which we are very grateful. I think however this is possibly the reason there are not more here!

Room to breathe in the Western Highlands and Islands
We had the luxury of fine weather when we visited and the privilege of staying at Crosple Cottage. Jennie and Rory were perfect hosts and on hand for any questions about the house or surrounding areas. The app supplied by the owners prior to arrival contains loads of information about the accommodation and things to do in the area. We loved having as much space as we needed - genuinely room to breathe inside and out!

Beautiful
Crosple Cottage is beautifully decorated to a high standard and well equipped, with everything you need and more. The view is stunning no matter the time of day and weather. The location is secluded and the only noise to be heard were the birds and sheep, but a good location to explore the area. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, home baking and freshly cut flowers, a truly personal touch. We met Rory on our last day, who was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back to Crosple Cottage, we had a wonderfully relaxing stay.

Excellent Romantic Holiday Cottage
We’ve holidayed in lots of cottages and Crosple Cottage is the best we’ve ever stayed in. It’s location and situation is fantastic; approached via a gravel driveway, it is completely private in an elevated position over looking Loch Melfort yet close enough to amenities that you do not feel isolated. Sitting immediately beneath a beautiful hillside, Crosple has a lovely private, fenced garden with a patio overlooking the Loch and a built in BBQ. There is ample gravelled private, secure parking. The Cottage itself looks like a traditional Scottish cottage but is recently built and therefore feels modern and wonderfully warm inside whilst maintaining its charm. Ours was a Christmas stay and the modern air-sourced heating system was brilliant - always warm and cosy and easily controlled and plentiful hot water. This was topped off with a brilliant wood burning stove with plenty of dry logs. The open plan downstairs living area is lovely, with a large TV that has access to Netflix and Freeview Play and even larger view to the Loch! The kitchen is a great size, well laid out with modern oven, ceramic hobs, microwave, dishwasher and full size freezer and fridge. It is well equipped with good quality pots and pans. To help plan your visit, there was a single kitchen roll and 4 dishwasher tablets; there is no blender/mixer. Upstairs was a large bathroom with beautiful bath and brilliant, very powerful shower! The bedroom had a comfortable kingsize bed with lovely views to the Loch. We didn’t meet the owners, but the communication prior to arrival was top notch providing all the information we required. As Crosple is so well stocked we didn’t need their assistance during our stay but I have no doubt they would have been very helpful if required. This really is a wonderful place to stay, we will be back!
