A brilliant little cottage, in lovely countryside, high up it the Ceiriog Valley. It has everything you need for a relaxed stay in a perfect setting that feels away from the world but is actually easily accessible to Chirk and Llangollen.. Good walks straight from the door. Nick and Derek are perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating to our needs. We fell in love with the place and can't wait to go back there

Calming, beautiful and welcoming in a compact, perfect package
Popty (and also the adjacent Capel holiday cottage) at Pennant is an ideal location for a single person or a couple wanting fresh air, fantastic countryside, inspiring views and cosy comforts.
The cottage is small but equipped with everything you need to make it a home away from home. A hot shower after a long walk across the hills, a well-equipped kitchen for home meals, a range with a generous stack of logs so that you can stare into the fire long into the night, and surprisingly good wi-fi if you really can't leave the rest of the world behind. The loft bed was much more comfortable than expected and even in snowy February the whole place was warm and welcoming all day and night.
The wider area has many attractions from castles and canals, to mountain walks and market towns. You can spend the day alone walking the hills, lanes and woodlands, or visit busier entertainments and attractions within a couple of miles.
The owners are extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the locality and helpful. They provide leaflets and maps in the cottage to help inspire your days out. They leave you to feel like the place is your own but are on-hand whenever needed. Perfect hosts for a holiday rental property.
If you're looking for an escape from a frantic world, this is where you'll find it, while not having to rough it either. This is somewhere I'll return to again and again.

Perfect!
The perfect place for a romantic get-away in beautiful surroundings. The bakehouse is compact and cozy, and has everything you really need. Everyone is very friendly, including the chickens and the dogs! Great location with easy access to some lovely countryside. We will be back!

Perfect Cosy Get Away
We couldn't have asked for more. The Bakehouse was just perfect for a quiet weekend away. The owners were very friendly and helpful but left us to enjoy our stay. Quiet location but also close to places of interest. A fabulous walking route suggested by Nick to get us to Llangollen was really appreciated, as was the milk when I'd packed everything but the kitchen sink and milk! Would love to return.

Cosy cottage in the country
Beautiful location - this cosy cottage offers bijou accommodation, with a mezzanine bedroom overlooking the lounge - a log fire is a must! Great for local walking and within easy reach of Llangollen, driving along very narrow roads on which you may encounter sheep and hopefully no other vehicles, but with absolutely stunning views all round. Ask Nick for the local walks - we walked up to the top to see Llangollen from the heights and Chirk Castle is an easy - if up and down - wander. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Charming Place
Just back from a nice break in this rather stunning corner of the world. Along and up a beautiful valley, just over the border into Wales, Pennant farm sits at the end of a quiet and narrow lane and has lovely views over the Ceiriog Valley. This used to be part of the Chirk Castle estate and the castle itself is only a 5 minute drive, although my wife and I preferred the 40 minute walk part of which was through quiet up-and-down lanes and part over fields.
Popty Pennant itself is small, but fine for a couple, "cute" and "quaint" as my wife would say. I liked its sense of history evoked by the stone floor and large, aged fireplace. We both liked the chickens, geese and horses, all easy to see.
If you'd prefer a larger and/or posher place, Capel Pennant is the detached neighbouring rental property, owned by the same people. The owners were unobtrusive but friendly, nice people.

Beautiful
Delivered everything as advertised and more. Absolute peace, outstanding all round views, very friendly and helpful owners. The cottage delivered in full, beautifully restored to a very high standard, very comfortable and had everything a person could want. Friendly dogs, gorgeous horses, chickens & geese free to roam around, we even had a pair of partridges that visited every morning. If your looking for perfect and idyllic this is it! Lots to do and see in the surrounding area, Chirk Castle, Erddig, Plas Newydd, Llangollen, Llandudno to name but a few. We were given a very warm welcome wherever we went. Very very enjoyable and I would highly recommend a stay.

Pennant is sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Ceiriog Valley, a quiet backwater, a jewel in the crown of North Wales, a long meandering valley starting at the Chirk Castle estate and winding up through the villages of Pontfadog and Glyn Ceiriog up to the remote hamlet of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog with its wonderful coaching inns. The magical town of Llangollen with its steam heritage railway, the Ladies of Llangollen's home Plas Newydd, horse drawn canal boats and international music festival is only three miles from Pennant and walkable along an old drover's route. The Llangollen canal is part of the Froncysyllte Aquaduct World Heritage Site, again only a short distance from Pennant. Pennant is also close to Offa's Dyke, an ancient earth works defining the English / Welsh border which crosses the parkland to Chirk Castle. The local market town of Oswestry is within easy reach and the historic county towns of Chester and Shrewsbury are only half an hour away.
