We recently stayed at this lovely property for 8 nights. The country setting is beautiful. Everything is just as nice as it looks in the photos and our hostess Gillian was very welcoming - she even flew a Canadian flag for the duration of our stay, which was such a nice touch. Gillian greeted us with a welcome pack of milk, bread, butter and lemon cake, which was a huge help as we hadn't had a chance yet to pick up groceries. We were very comfortable there and had lots of room to spread out and relax.
And, I must make mention of the excellent, fast and reliable wifi connection, which received a gold star from our very appreciative children.
We used this location as a base for day trips to the many castles and other attractions in the area, both in Wales and England, including: Caerphilly Castle, Chepstow Castle, Goodrich Castle, Tintern Abbey, White Castle, Raglan Castle, Ludlow and a medieval battle enactment in Tewkesbury.
A large grocery store was less than a 10 minute drive away in Abergavenny and we loved having a washer and dryer to do laundry during our stay,
It was initially a bit tricky for us to find the house on our first day. We arrived at dusk and, as we searched by postal code, the GPS took only took us to the general area. However, Gillian had offered to guide us in by phone if we had any trouble, so we knew we could always call her, if we needed to, and we were able to find it on our own after all.
Thanks for a great stay!
[Driving tip for North American tourists while traveling in Wales - we recommend having a good old-fashioned road map handy to supplement your GPS. Our GPS had a tendency to send us on the narrow single-track roads to many destinations, when other more user-friendly (i.e. wider) roads were available.]
