Barn
Comfortable and spacious recently converted barn in the grounds of a former vicarage. Great location between Abergavenny and Monmouth and on the border of the Brecon Beacons and the Wye Valley. The Barn provides accommodation for four people with two bedrooms -one double, one twin. Great for families, with fabulous views, flat screen Freesat TV, DVD, WiFi, board games, books and games table. We also offer facilities for walkers and cyclists with safe storage for bikes. Grass tennis and badminton courts are available for our guests in the Summer and we have rackets you are welcome to borrow.

Amazing!
We absolutely loved our stay at the barn and would 100% recommend it to anyone! The little welcome treats on arrival were lovely. Gill and Alex were so friendly and no job was too big for them.

Idyllic location
A panorama of beautiful country views, peaceful; a well run and well equipped accommodation. Owner was welcoming and helpful. Easy to get to Abergavveny and supermarket, about 4 miles. A good base for exploring South Wales

Wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay at Birch Tree Barn. Gill made us feel so welcome with some lovely supplies including a lemon drizzle cake; eggs bread and butter. It’s a beautiful space and we were so comfortable. It was a great place to explore the Abergavenny food festival too! Thanks Gill for a wonderful stay!

Good location, peaceful
Excellent location for exploring that area with a lot of very good restaurants close by. Well appointed, light and airy, great views across the adjacent fields. Very helpful hosts who live in the house next door.

Washer and dryer were a plus. Wi-Fi worked great. One of the best properties we have stayed in. No negatives. Highly recommended!

Unser zweiter Aufenthalt - wieder hauptsächlich wegen des einzigartigen alljährlichen 'Green Man' festivals: "a week(-end) full of generosity and warmth" (The Guardian) ... eine passende Bewertung - auch für 'Birch Tree Barn'

Wonderful place to stay - private yet close to amenities
We all enjoyed our stay at Birch Tree Barn. Gill provided us with a delicious cake, bread, eggs etc on arrival which was much appreciated. The Barn has wonderful views from all windows. We loved the open plan style of the living area and the downstairs laundry room/bike store was very useful. Would love to visit again. Missing it already! Thank you Gill.

Family
What an excellent find to stay for a week. We were made most welcome by the host Mrs Mitchell. She had given us a 'welcome pack' of milk, eggs, home made loaf and cake which were delicious. We were in the area for one of Europe's largest cultural events - the Eisteddfod and the accommodation was close to the site venue which made travelling very easy to the town of Abergavenny. Birch Tree Barn was a lovely accommodation to stay, clean, tidy and modern with well equipped Lounge / diner kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom. Plenty of storage area and washing machine and drying area. Plenty of garden area for the grandsons to play in. I will most certainly will be returning to stay at this self catering accommodation. Highly recommended.

Absolute perfection in rural setting
We recently stayed at this lovely property for 8 nights. The country setting is beautiful. Everything is just as nice as it looks in the photos and our hostess Gillian was very welcoming - she even flew a Canadian flag for the duration of our stay, which was such a nice touch. Gillian greeted us with a welcome pack of milk, bread, butter and lemon cake, which was a huge help as we hadn't had a chance yet to pick up groceries. We were very comfortable there and had lots of room to spread out and relax. And, I must make mention of the excellent, fast and reliable wifi connection, which received a gold star from our very appreciative children. We used this location as a base for day trips to the many castles and other attractions in the area, both in Wales and England, including: Caerphilly Castle, Chepstow Castle, Goodrich Castle, Tintern Abbey, White Castle, Raglan Castle, Ludlow and a medieval battle enactment in Tewkesbury. A large grocery store was less than a 10 minute drive away in Abergavenny and we loved having a washer and dryer to do laundry during our stay, It was initially a bit tricky for us to find the house on our first day. We arrived at dusk and, as we searched by postal code, the GPS took only took us to the general area. However, Gillian had offered to guide us in by phone if we had any trouble, so we knew we could always call her, if we needed to, and we were able to find it on our own after all. Thanks for a great stay! [Driving tip for North American tourists while traveling in Wales - we recommend having a good old-fashioned road map handy to supplement your GPS. Our GPS had a tendency to send us on the narrow single-track roads to many destinations, when other more user-friendly (i.e. wider) roads were available.]
