We cannot recommend this little shepherds hut enough! Perfect for a relaxing break! We stayed for two nights in November as a mini break.
Communications prior to the trip were excellent, we shared messages with Carol who was very helpful in answering all our questions.
Jasper was there to greet us upon our arrival and give us a quick tour of the facilities, which was really helpful.
The hut itself is lovely! There’s the main kitchen area with fridge/freezer, hob, full sized oven, sink and plenty of crockery and pots, pans etc. Upon arrival there was a lovely basket of supplies - bread, crisps, granola, jams, ginger bread biscuits, mini wine bottle. Milk and butter in the fridge also. Some sauces and condiments in the cupboards. Cleaning supplies - washing up liquid, clingfilm, foil, cloths etc. Then other treats and sweets in little jars. The little touches by Carol and Jasper really make this place special.
There’s also a seating area with fold down table and tv on the wall, and then the bed folds on top. Considering it’s a shepherds hut we had two good nights sleep here and the bed is big enough for two adults. We found the storage to be good and we could always store our bag under the table or bed to keep it out our way.
There is also a book inside with information and guidance on the hut and local area etc. Some books if you fancy a read. Also a selection of board games which we enjoyed! We have two games on our Christmas list now!!
The bathroom is fully functional and the shower is actually quite big! We had no issues with hot water for showers, it was always ample. Fully functioning toilet etc. The bathroom is well stocked with suppliers - body washes, face wipes, cotton pads etc. And towels are provided. There is also a heated towel rail.
There is a heater in the main area and it keeps the whole hut really warm. We didn’t need to worry about getting cold at all, despite the fact it was gale force winds, very cold and pouring down with rain outside.
There is also a cupboard for storage where you can hang coats etc. Lots of useful bits in there - iron, ironing board, blankets, first aid kit etc. In the cupboard (in a hamper) is plastic crockery, croc shoes (his & hers), towels and gowns for the hot tub. These are washed between guests so no need to take your own.
The hot tub was lovely! It poured with rain pretty much most of our trip but we still managed to get out in the hot tub often! Lovely secluded spot. The garden area would be lovely in the warmer months, there was garden furniture, swing seat, fire pit and bbq.
The location is great and the hut is completely private in the grounds of Carol and Jasper’s home. The hut looks out on open fields. There was also space for us to park our car on the driveway.
Jasper also took the time to say goodbye at the end of our trip and check everything was ok, which was lovely.
All in all a lovely few days, we’d definitely recommend and would love to return! Thank you Carol and Jasper.
