NEIGHBOURHOOD The north bank of the Thames at Tower Hill, to the east of the financial district in the city, is a part of London that is filled with history. All Hallows by the Tower is a fascinating church with parts of the building dating back to 675AD. The Tower of London dominates the area and is one of the most iconic landmarks in the UK. The inner White Tower of the castle dates back to the reign of William the Conqueror almost 1000 years ago. For lovers of the arts, the recently opened Bridge Theatre has an excellent programme of high quality drama throughout the year. For the best food in the area, try The Culpeper for a great and filling brunch, or Duck and Waffle for high quality fine dining on the 52nd floor of the Heron Tower. Smith’s Brasserie is a refined and elegant seafood restaurant, located just along the Thames, beyond St’ Katherine’s Dock to the east of the Tower. Given the historic nature of the area, it should come as no surprise that one of the best pubs around is The Hoop and Grapes, a Grade II-listed 17th century building that survived the famous Great Fire of London. The Princess of Prussia is a traditional Victorian British pub and for something a little different, try the 46 & Mercy, a subterranean cocktail bar. Plenty of cafe's, pubs, and restaurants located in the complex. Next door to the apartment is Bar + Block (part of Premier Inn hotel) for a great buffet breakfast or steak; Spitalfields market for a variety of eateries; The Ned for the best Sunday brunch you'll ever have; The Dickens Inn for a classic pub drink or meal in the beautiful surroundings of St. Katherine's Dock; Poppies for the best fish & chips near Spitalfields, Beigel Bake for sublime salt beef sandwiches; The Ivy Tower Bridge for a great menu with views. TRANSIT The closest tube station is Aldgate East, connecting you to the District and Hammersmith and City lines.
