NOW with wifi (although not super fast)! Blea Brows enjoys a fantastic secluded setting in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons country! It is a fabulous cottage for couples, families or group holidays, and a safe location for children and pets as it is set in the grounds of the big house, Brown Howe. It enjoys private lake access (with three other properties), just a few minutes stroll away (along a woodland path, which may be muddy when wet!), and is ideal for boating, picnics and exploring. Wild Cat island is within reach by boat, and the beautiful Blawith common is just down the road - ideal for exploring and with more lovely beaches to discover! From here you can also enjoy amazing views up the lake towards Coniston, with the well-walked Fairfield Horseshoe in view. It is a cosy, comfortable detached cottage with woodburne... Read more

From the moment you arrive, you are overwhelmed with the sense of being in the heart of the forest, surrounded by large pines and oaks and an abundance of local wildlife. From tooting owls to hoot you to sleep, the cries of the birds of prey looking for breakfast you are always reminded that this is their domain and you...

Management response:

Thanks guys for the lovely review! Yes, it is really quiet except for the abundant birdlife - including the 'mewling' and 'hooting' of resident buzzards and owls! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the 'upload' speeds - that's the bane of deep rural life - hopefully super fast broadband will make its way there eventually! As regards the phone...

We loved our stay and loved how quant everything was. This cottage was perfect for our stay. My son stayed in his own room and his cousin in his. Everything worked perfect from appliances to the grill. Shopping for food is a few miles away so stock up. We highly recommend it.

Management response:

What a lovely review - thanks very much. I'm glad your son and his cousin were able to enjoy their own rooms - a great bonus - and one that our children enjoyed too. We will definitely include shopping top tips in our details so people know where the nearest supermarkets are - thanks for that. Thanks again. Regards, Phil...

This cottage was exactly as advertised. Yes it is overlooked, but it is just as much fun sitting in the window watching guests to the other cottages come and go! The cottage was clean and comfortable, and was situated in a great location. Parking a few minutes up the main road, you can access footpath walking alongside the lake right...

Management response:

Thanks for your lovely review! We're very glad you enjoyed your stay. I think you may be the first to enjoy guest watching - it is overlooked, but as everyone is on holiday, it's not usually a problem! Glad you were able to enjoy some walks with ice creams - I think you had the best of the weather! You...
