Rose Cottage is a lovely Georgian cottage set in a tranquil area with great views over the surrounding countryside. Ideal for couples or small families, this cottage has two bedrooms - one double and one twin. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen and sitting room area with open fire. These two areas are separated by a spiral staircase leading to the bedrooms. The bathroom is downstairs and has bath with shower over. The garden is enclosed and is a lovely area for sitting out.

Lamplugh is a great starting point for exploring the rest of the Lake District. There are walks from the front door and Loweswater Lake is just three miles away - with an award winning pub at the far end! For cafes, pubs and shops, Cockermouth is just ten minutes away. One week took much here...musky dark and dank....spiral stairs very unstable and slippy, cooker temp readings rubbed out so guessing the heat temperature, dirty outdoor seating and table, rusty and covered in bird droppings and placed below trees, where sun don't shine. Step down to bath/shower room could cause accident as not easily seen due to being in dark area....

The cottage was nicely decorated and well equipped but the fridge was so tiny it was not at all practical for a self catering holiday. Just a normal standard size would be fine but this one is more like the ones you get in a small caravan. The staircase is a steep spiral one with smooth wood steps that have...

Just come back from a lovely 4 night stay nice quiet area, cottage very cosy and no hidden extra,s..even supplied the coal for fire and dishwasher tablets . Even had washing machine and tumble drier Only downside bathroom seriously needs re decorating , mould on tiles and shower screen , paint flaking of walls

Rose Cottage is set in a lesser known, but just as beautiful, part of the Lake District. Adventure seekers of all experiences can find plenty to do in the area - rock climbing, canoeing, abseiling, mountain biking, pony trekking and Go Ape! at Whinlatter.

Closeby is the peaceful lake, Loweswater, surrounded by high fells. Take a walk in the ancient woodlands and admire the gorgeous waterfall. Head a little higher up and you’re within sight of the Cumbrian coast.

Whether you choose to walk the fells, head into the nearby market towns of Cockermouth or Keswick, or sit back in the beautiful gardens, you’re in an ideal location at Rose Cottage.

It's best to reach Rose Cottage by car - leave the M6 motorway at Junction 40, follow the A66 to Keswick and then Cockermouth beyond. At Cockermouth, turn left onto the A5806. Carry on for about 10 minutes and then turn left into Lamplugh Village.

If you're coming by public transport, you can take the train to Cockermouth, which is on the mainline, and then a bus to Cockermouth. You'll need to take a taxi from Cockermouth. Alternatively, you can take a train to Workington and take a taxi from there.

The nearest airports are Manchester or Newcastle.
