5 Smithy Brow
Had a great week in a cosy cottage in the middle of Ambleside. Nothing fancy, but very well equipped, perfect for a week of mixed Lake District weather. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thanks very much Peter.

Brilliant cottage
This was our first stay at 5 Smithy Brow, but it won't be our last. Ideally situated in Ambleside, close to restaurants snd shops, this cottage was welcoming, comfortable and well-appointed. The kitchen had all the ameneties you could ask for and the beds were comfortable. I would recommend anybody wanting a good base for touring the Lake District, to consider this lovely cottage.

Cosy cottage in perfect position
Located within a few minutes walk of all local amenities, including the three wonderful Ambleside cinemas, and direct walking access to several fells without the need for driving. Space for two bicycles at the rear which felt secure. Comfortable and clean. Best value for money holiday accommodation have ever found in this town, which for me is the best base to explore the Lake District.

Glorious
Just had a lovely stay in this quaint little cottage at Ambleside, good communication with Peter who owns the cottage, before and during our stay, the cottage is only a stones throw away from the heart of Ambleside with lots of shops and pubs, there is a lovely park called Rothay Park which is ideal if you have younger children. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed and was lovely to relax in after our walks out, I often had a Nanna nap on the little bench outside the front door and we would definitely stay here again.

A gorgeous little cottage
I stayed in this cottage for 5 days with my Mother and 1 year old Son and it was lovely. Yes the decor was a little dated but that really isn't important, what is important is that it was clean and well equipped with all the basics which was brilliant, there was plenty of hot water and the heating worked really well. There is no wi-fi and signal was a bit hit and miss but that suited us as we wanted to get away from the everyday humdrum. If you do take little ones there a lot of stairs so you will have to watch them if they wander this wasn't an issue for us though.

Super convenient and cozey.
A little apprehensive on looking at it from outside, but in reality couldn't have asked for more. Excellent place to make your base to visit the Lakes. Cozey place to come back to in winter. Only one car. No room for a large vehicle as the parking is very very tight. This is the only reason for not getting a 5. Ambleside has plenty of places to eat. And best of all, there is a pub that has Old Tom next door but one in the winter. You only need one tho.

Thank you. Please come again. We actually own the forecourt in front of both 5 and 4 Smithy Brow, so if parking is tight then you are entitled to ask the neighbours at 4 Smithy Brow to move over a bit. I frequently park my Octavia estate car at 5 Smithy Brow when cleaning etc.

Just what we needed
Lovely holiday cottage with no frills but everything we needed too. We enjoyed the hot baths and loved the location. Everything is on the doorstep and some great walks start in Ambleside too. Peter was great and returned my towel by post which was kind of him.

Ideal location, cosy cottage
We stayed here for 3 nights in October. It was easy to find with parking at the front of the cottage. It was lovely and warm, and had to turn the heating off it was so warm. The hot water was boiling too. There was everything we would need from a cottage in the kitchen and we were happy to pay the extra for the beds to be made up. A really nice touch was when the owner Peter stopped by on our first morning, to check we were ok and had everything we needed. Obviously there is no shower but this is stipulated in the advert and I feel that this is reflected in the price and the shower hose was really useful, especially when washing my hair. It was actually nice to enjoy a bath after long walks. Overall the cottage was excellent and just what we wanted - reasonable price, central location, parking and a lovely warm cosy atmosphere.

Very convenient cosy little cottage.
This cottage contains everything you need for a Lakeland getaway. The house was lovely and warm, kitchen very well equipped and everything just right. The location is excellent, very easy to just bob into Ambleside and some great walks from the house - no need to take the car out. A small selection of games, puzzles and books to entertain. Peter was excellent at communicating and answer promptly to any queries. Will definitely consider staying again. Much cheaper than a family room in the YHA! and you have the place to yourself. I would highly recommend.
