Restored and rebuilt from the original building of 1703, using eco-friendly materials, this stunning cottage is a delight!
A bespoke Oak Front Door leads into the Sitting Room. Opened up to the ceiling, the massive English Oak beams provide the framework for a glorious space. Dual aspect, the French Doors lead onto your private patio at the rear, with views over the gardens beyond.
The terracotta floor provides a warm base to the ambiance of the room. The furniture is an eclectic mix of new (comfortable sofa and cushions) and antique golden oak furniture. A large digital television with Freeview, DVD player, radio with i pod dock are supplied, along with a selection of films and music to entertain you. Uncluttered comfort has been the aim.

Lovely venue and kind hosts
We stayed here in May 2024 and were very happy with the location and facilities. A comfortable base to explore Northern Kent.
Anne and Rob had thoughtfully provided everything we needed and were nearby without intruding. In particular, knowing I have an extreme cat allergy, Anne had taken great pains to deep clean and ensure the linens had been laundered off site so there was no risk of cat dander being in the cottage. She also gave us some carrots to feed the horses in the adjacent paddock!

Excellent Cottage for Two
We stayed here at the beginning of July 2021. The cottage is well situated between the historic city of Canterbury and the Kent coast just a few miles away. Anne made us feel very welcome with a host of goodies on arrival and, importantly to us, making the cottage very Covid safe. There is a host of good walks around the area and plenty of great places to visit - Deal, Broadstairs, Dover and, our favourite, Walmer Castle. Despite the mixed weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful place to stay.
Lovely area, very close to Canterbury, Sandwich, Ramsgate. All great places to visit. The accomadtion was immaculate and perfect to stay at. Very quite and has everything that is needed. Lovely mince pies too. Anne left use to ourselves, unless help was needed. I am sure it would be a lovely place in the summer as it was amazing in winter.

Tolle Unterkunft, ruhig gelegen

The Stables is located in the small town of Shatterling very idyllic behind the main house, thus isolated from the traffic. The garden is almost a small park with a large mulberry tree, where many singing birds frolic. The rooms are extremely lovingly and high quality designed and absolutely nothing is missing. If you have any wishes, you can contact the friendly landlords Anne and Rob, who live next door in the main building. This proximity is not disturbing, we did not meet the two during our stay. We would very much like to come back immediately.
This is an English translation of your great review for The Stables. Thank you so much, it was a real pleasure to meet you both, and hope to see you again soon.

Delightful country cottage
Wonderful location. Plenty of nearby attractions to visit. Owners very friendly and helpful if you have any queries. Attention to detail in the accommodation is very good, a great walk-in shower and a lovely welcome hamper. The garden is well kept and nice to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun. Plenty of car parking. Nice and quiet. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Lovely apartment
We stayed in the gardeners cottage over the bank holiday weekend. Was really lovely and would definitely stay again. The cottage is very well stocked (should you want to cook) and comfortable, with Anne on hand for any questions and recommendations about good places to visit/eat nearby.

Simply The Best
The Stables was a great location for us to visit nearby family. It was a gem of a place to stay - beautifully converted and immaculate with positively everything we could possibly need during our stay. It is everything you hope your holiday accommodation will be when you book it and more! Kent at this time of the year is stunning with so much in bloom and lots to do. Thanks Anne ands Rob for being great hosts.

About the neighborhood
Ideally situated to visit all that our area has to offer. Dover Castle, Deal Castle, Walmer Castle, all within 20 minutes. The seaside towns of Ramsgate, Margate with the Turner Contemporary Gallery and Dreamland, Broadstairs with Charles Dickens house, Whitstable with it's oysters and great harbour area - (I could go on!) all within 20-30 minutes. Just down the road (3 miles) is Sandwich, a fantastic mediaeval town with the most timber framed building in England. Inland there is Canterbury, the seat of Christianity with it's marvellous cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey. Not to mention Tenterden, Tunbridge Wells, all worth a visit. Sissinghurst and Scotney have wonderful gardens, and there are several large shopping outlets too.
