Woodland Retreat is a self contained, detached cedar lodge set within the private grounds of the Old Water Pumping Station, Massington Lodge.
There is an open plan kitchen/living area.The full kitchen has an electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dining table and chairs.The living area has a large 2 seater settee, flat-screen TV with DVD, CD player and large picture window and patio doors. The shower room has shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet. The separate bedroom has a double bed with king size duvet.
Price includes electric, bed linen, towels and tea towels.
There is a large decked, raised balcony overlooking the garden and fields with outdoor dining. Guests have use of a BBQ.
Welcome pack on arrival includes tea, coffee, sugar, milk, local apple juice and home-made cakes.

Interaction with guests:Â We are always here to welcome our guests. As we live on site we are available if guests need to ask us anything, but at the same time they have their privacy.
We had a lovely week at the Woodland Retreat. The quiet location was perfect for us, complete with friendly mallard ducks. The Retreat had everything we needed and our hosts, Suzanne and Danny were very friendly and attentive. Any small niggles, like needing a new battery for the remote, were immediately dealt with. For us it was an excellent base for exploring the Malverns and a number of National Trust and English Heritage sites - as well as Slimbridge. We hope to return soon!

Cozy cabin set in charming woodland setting
Located close to Ledbury this woodland cabin made an ideal location for hill walking in the Malverns. Despite unseasonal cold weather, the cozy accommodation and woodland wildlife made this an ideal base for our holiday. The owners, Danny and Suzanne, were friendly and responsive hosts and we had a very enjoyable and relaxing week away in a pretty location.

Excellent as ever.
My fourth visit to Massington Lodge and as ever it was a restful and peaceful place to spend a week and Susanne and Danny are the most excellent hosts. I shall look forward to arranging my 2021 visit.

Exellent stay near Ledbury
Modern lodge in a beautiful garden with plenty of wildlife. Only ten minutes away from all shops. plenty to do and to see. Nice owmers!

Nowhere better if you’re looking for ‘perfect’......
Ideal location if you love wildlife and the outdoors. Peaceful, beautiful, wonderful hosts in Suzanne and Danny, not to mention Marty & Miriam, the 🦆’s that kept me company during my week-long stay. If you love walking, there is no better place to be; if you’re into National Trust properties, there are plenty to choose from. I couldn’t fault the Woodland Retreat and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for tranquility. Thank you Suzanne and Danny for welcoming me to your home.

A beautiful getaway.

Here the once, you'll want to return
Staying at Suzanne and Danny's is a real treat. The hosts are so friendly, thoughtful and trusting. Theirs is a super spot close to the charming town of Ledbury and the lodge we stayed in (twice now) is comfortable, has all the necessities, and being set within a lightly wooded area is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Despite the occasional rumble of a passing train or a distant motorbike these are hardly noticed after a short while.

Woodland Retreat is aptly named!!
You cannot help but relax in these beautiful surroundings! Everything was spot on. We felt like we were in the middle of the woods and could completely switch off from the normal hurly-burly of daily life for a few days (with the lovely hosts, Suzanne and Danny, always on hand if needed). Beautiful walks to the Deer Park. Lovely local places to visit; our favourite being Symonds Yat. Suzanne and Danny definitely go above and beyond; letting us charge our electric car there and also finding and returning my engagement ring, which I carelessly left on a shelf. I couldn't fault this place. We have had quite a few weekends away this year, some quite expensive, but this is by far the best. Well done Suzanne and Danny. Hope to visit again soon. A real retreat!

Perfect getaway
Excellent location for a quite break, and close to the Cotswold's, local market towns are a short drive away and plenty of walks on your doorstep.

Woodland Retreat is situated within the 2 ½ acres of grounds and woodland of the converted Ledbury Pumping Station, Massington Lodge, which has also been featured on BBCs Escape to the Country Located just over a mile from Massington Lodge is the market town of Ledbury. Ledbury has a large number of picturesque timber framed buildings including the market house located in the centre of the town. Great places to eat.Lovely walk over the hills to Ledbury.Also nearby is Eastnor Castle, a 19th Century mock medieval castle. Surrounded by a beautiful deer park, arboretum and lake the castle is a popular wedding and corporate entertainment venue.The grounds of Eastnor Castle are used by Land Rover and allow visitors to try out vehicles on their specially designed off road circuit. The deer park at Eastnor is within walking distance which leads onto the Malvern Hills with outstanding views over Herefordshire and Worcestershire.Close to Massington Lodge is the British Camp, an iron age fort thought to be first constructed in the 2nd Century BC.There are many different walking routes from here.
Getting around
Apart from local walks, the use of a car is recommended. we are equal distance from Worcester, Hereford & Gloucester ( about 25 -30 mins)
