My wife and I (plus Cocker Spaniel) had a lovely mid week break . The cottage was everything you could wish for, well maintained, clean and very well equipped.
Full of information about the surrounding area and after a brief welcoming chat to check all was well, we’re happily left to our own devises.

Perfect, total bliss!
Thank you so much, the cottage was perfect, located in the middle of the deepest countryside of Dorset, and yet only a short drive from Bridport. It is lovely and warm - it can be cold still in May! - and we had a wonderful view of hills, woods and fields from our settee, and admired the three horses in the field and the rabbits at night and birds during the day. It was a very relaxing -perfect break, thank you so much....

Perfect place to get away from it all!!
We have returned from a wonderful few days staying in Buckingham Cottage, it was everything we hoped it would be, the accommodation was just perfect so clean and tidy, everything there that we needed. The view was stunning, couldn't get enough of it, so relaxing just sitting taking it all in, there was the added attraction of the horses, that would come up the fence to say hello. Its all so very quiet, all you can hear are the birds, the bees and and the horses when it was feeding time. If you are looking to get away and just relax, then this is the place to go, even though you feel you are miles away from anywhere, the lovely town of Bridport is only 3 miles away, and West Bay is definitely worth a visit too.

Lovely pet-friendly stay
The cottage was lovely and warm in spite of the cold weather, and well equipped in the main (a few kitchen items lacking). Beautiful setting, friendly welcome from Jenny and our dog loved having the enclosed garden outside the French windows. Plenty of space in the cottage, and local information was provided by the owner

Just the place to getaway
Just returned from a lovely relaxing stay in Buckingham Cottage. The weather was perfect (best weekend of the year so far) so we were spoilt with the lovely views across the garden, over the valley to the hills opposite bathed in sunshine. The cottage is lovely, very comfy and homely with everything you need (and more). Everything was very clean and well maintained, lovely comfy bed and super pillows. Part of us was a little disappointed that the weather was so good as we were looking forward to a log fire but maybe next time!
If you are looking for a relaxing break with all the home comforts but close enough to the lovely town of Bridport and the stunning cliffs of West Bay - look no more.
Spend time in the garden with a book and a glass of wine and the only noise you hear are the birds and the occasional 'horsey' noise as they wander past the bottom of your garden - they are very friendly and our dog made new friends.
We are planning to return, either as a couple again or as a large group as I'm sure the Farmhouse is just as lovely.

Peaceful setting with stunning views
The cottage was clean and homely with more luxuries than one expects in a holiday let. The enclosed garden was perfect for our two dogs who loved to watch the horses over the fence! Our son also enjoyed the games room - especially when it rained and we couldn't go fossil hunting!! Access to the cottage is not for the faint hearted with approx 2.5 miles of single track roads to navigate whenever you want to venture out but I guess that is the price to pay for peace and tranquility! My only negative comment would be that having searched for a "pet friendly" location with a private, enclosed garden, we were greeted with a big poster on the door stating that dogs were not to be left unattended in the property - this meant we had to take our Labs everywhere with us - even when just popping to the supermarket for food. That aside, we had a lovely, relaxing week; even though it rained almost every day!

A lovely cottage, well-appointed and with a stunning view
We spent a very enjoyable week at Buckingham Cottage on the Lancombes Estate. Both Mr Semmance and his daughter were very welcoming and the accommodation was as good as we had expected. We shall return soon to enjoy again the beautiful view and the many attractions of West Dorset.

fabulous place, a real gem
we came across Buckingham cottage whilst planning a week away in half term. we wanted somewhere that was dog friendly and close to Bridport with a bit of character. We (2 adults, 2 young children and a dog) couldn't have been happier with our choice. The location was stunning and the horses at the end of the garden kept the girls occupied for hours, although it did cost us a fortune in carrots! The cottage was well laid out, well equipped and spacious and the log fire was just the thing for the end of the day with a glass of wine. We've stayed in several places in the Bridport / Lyme Regis area and this has been our favourite by far.

Buckingham Cottage is part of Lancombes House. We have three self-catering holiday cottages which are part of a 200 year old converted barn and farm building, arranged around a courtyard. Set in 10 acres and surrounded by the beautiful hills and valleys of this unspoilt part of West Dorset, which has been designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
If you’re just looking for somewhere to relax then put your feet up on your own private patio and unwind to the gentle songs of nature. With little to no traffic noise you’ll be serenaded by bird song in the day and owls at night. We have low light pollution so on a clear night expect to see stars and even the Milky Way!
