Whether it be mountainous walks along the fells including Cat Bells and Causey Pike, gentle strolls around Bassenthwaite and Derwent Water or paddling and picnicking in the Newlands Valley, all are easily reached on foot from the village. <BR><BR>Rising above Braithwaite is Whinlatter forest with it's numerous mountain bike trails and high ropes course (Go Ape). Braithwaite has it's own village shop selling a comprehensive range of goods. Have just returned from a wonderful week spent at Applegarth. What a fantastic place to enjoy a birthday celebration with my whole family under one roof! The house has a welcoming feeling from its open fire to the huge dinning table which sits fourteen. Could not recommend this beautiful house more highly. Applegarth is a large, comfortable and nicely updated house approximately 5 minutes drive from Keswick's amenities and a 2 minute walk from the local pub(s). Airport: Manchester: 118.1 mi
Leave the motorway at Junction 40 (Penrith) and take the A66 westbound, signposted Keswick. Keep on this road for about 19 miles and ignore any turn offs for Keswick. After Keswick, ignore the first turn off for Braithwaite and take the second turn off for Braithwaite only 100 yards further along.
