We enjoyed a short family New Year break at One Fern Cottages. The cottage is very warm, cosy and well equipped with everthing you could need. The kitchen is particularly well equipped if you want to cook. Also cottage was spotlessly clean. We bought logs locally, as recommended in the information at the cottage and lit the fire in the...

The cottage is very very well kitted out, its like we never left home. Nice and quiet little village and a welcomed change to the daily London life. Wifi did not fail us at all. Apart from size 11 feet that kept slipping down the stairs and the 6foot heads getting woken up properly once or twice, this quaint beautiful...

Thank you for your lovely review. As the property is so old the width of the steps on the stairs are narrower and the ceilings/beams are lower than a modern house, so they do take a little time to get used to. We do hope we will see you again very soon.

Just back from a weeks stay at cottage with husband and two sons, what a beautiful place to spend the week. Perfectly located for huge number of the main visitor attractions at lakes, Windermere and Bowness only 20 mins away and grange over sands less than 10mins along the road. Our two boys particularly loved the proximity of the well...

Accessed via a small cobbled courtyard the property dates back to the 1600's. Whilst retaining the Olde Worlde charm that makes it special, it has a wonderful warm, light and airy feel. The kitchen is excellently equipped with all the items you would expect for a luxury break, including a double oven and hob, dishwasher, slow cooker, microwave, toaster and kettle, a comprehensive range of pots and pans, Denby crockery, cutlery and glassware.

Exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and stone floor remind you that you are in a room with real history and character......check out the creative way that the units have been shaped to fit the stone walls!

Lindale is an attractive village set within the Lake District National Park. Narrow lanes, old stone cottages, a traditional Post Office, a lovely church, a bubbling beck and a traditional pub give the village a real picture postcard feel. The area around Lindale has something for everybody, whether walking straight from the door or touring around the area, the scenery is simply awesome and has been the inspiration for many great poets, such as Wordsworth. Tennyson and Sir Walter Scott.

By road: Heading North along the M6, Junction 36 leads onto the A590 dual carriageway towards Barrow. After 3.5 miles exit onto the A590 towards Barrow and continue along this for 5.9 miles. At the roundabout take the first exit onto the B5277 for Lindale and Grange-over-Sands. Lindale is the first village you will come to (1.3 miles) and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Lindale Hill, with the Lindale Inn Pub on your right. Just after the village Post Office (which is on the right), you will take a left exit onto School Hill and then immediately (after 20m) turn left onto Back Road.
