. Originally built in 1873 for a sea captain of the area, Waves End is a wonderful Victorian townhouse with a stunning outlook over the harbour and sea. Recently flawlessly renovated to present a first class residence in wonderful St Ives . Just a few minutes, walk to the beautiful beaches, galleries, shops and restaurants that St Ives has to offer. Wake up to glorious sunrises over the bay, views of St Ives harbour and across the bay towards Porthminster Beach and up the coast to Godrevy Lighthouse and Hayle Towans. Waves End offers stylish accommodation for up to 8 guests within 4 boutique bedrooms with ample living space just perfect for holiday life. Waves End offers private parking for 2 cars and a private hot tub for guest use.

Outstanding
There is not much to dislike about this terraced house. It looks quite small from the front and back but actually is a Tardis. However the most outstanding feature (and there are plenty of others) are the views across St Ives harbour from the 2 front bedrooms and dining room. From your bed you can see the ebb and flow of the tide and an ever changing landscape. So bring binoculars. There are 4 bedrooms on the same floor and 4 bathrooms on different floors although only 1 bath. There is an en suite bedroom but this does not have views. It looks like it has recently been redecorated to high standards and there are TVs in 3 of the bedrooms and also a smart TV in the lounge with Netflix and the other internet channels. Wifi was running at about 6 Mbps and reception is best in the lounge and dining room. It supported 2 of the party with video calls. Mobile O2 signal is poor. You need to remember to duck when you enter the lounge. The kitchen has everything you would want including a wine cooler and there is plenty of room for cooking. There were 6 adults in our party and there was plenty of private space for all. There is an outside table in the back garden, up a set of tiresome steps, but no views. Make sure you protect your pasty from the seagulls. A large secure garage is at the top of the garden but getting you car in 1st time is a bit of a nightmare especially if it is dark. The entry road is very narrow and the garage door is at an angle to the long axis of the garage. Recognising this will be helpful as is having 2 other people to assist you in 1st time. I think the location is one of the best in St Ives. Porthminster Beach is less than 10 minutes away down 2 sets of steps and there are two other world class beaches accessible after a walk through the town including the option of surfing. There is plenty to do in St Ives with museums, art shops, restaurants, boat hire and walks along the coastal pathway. So walking out every morning for bread and croissants is the norm. You don't need a car. Also the house is within walking distance of St Ives station branch line so it is possible to come on Great Western trains (change at St Erth). The bus stop is opposite the house in front of a small terrace overlooking the town. There are benches here where you can sit and take your own drink admiring the view. There is a little noise from the buses but this did not cause any bother. We did not see the owners but had contact with them via email. Overall this is a very well run and maintained house in a unique position. Just remember to book your restaurants and attractions in advance during the Covid era.

Great house
We were a group of adults and teenagers and the house worked really well for everyone. There was plenty of space and the hot tub was very popular. The views were spectacular but we were still close to the centre of St Ives. Having parking was an added bonus.

Getting around
Access Statement. The property has 8 steps with handrail from the garage to the garden. The garden is split level with two steps. There are approx 20 steps with handrail down to the courtyard. From the courtyard into the kitchen there are 2 steps. The ground floor is mostly on one level except for the utility room and ground floor w.c/shower room which are up 2 steps. There are 2 steps down onto the pavement from the front door. About 10 Stairs to first floor half landing which turns left to the family bathroom and bedroom 4. Turn right and up 5 or 6 more to the remaining 3 bedrooms.

How to get there
As you approach St Ives you will see a 'through traffic' sign, follow this briefly (500m) The road turns sharp left and up hill, on the bend to the right is a road with a 'no entry sign' in the distance. Turn right here and head towards the no entry sign as you approach the road turns sharp right and down hill. Halfway down the hill turn left into a lane with garages, 50m on the right is a dare green garage door. Waves End. You have arrived! Tip. Reverse into the garage. TR26 2EJ takes you very close to the garage at the back of the house. TR26 2BW for sat nav takes you to the front of the property.
