Before returning home to California,we spent a week at the Look Out after river cruising in Europe. The property was entirely refurbished o a high standard for four people in 2011, with the object of making our guests feel comfortable and at home. The apartment is accessed by a stable-type door opening into a superb living/dining area with a timber beamed vaulted ceiling, giving on to a balcony with views down Dunstanville Terrace towards the Greenbank Hotel and a limited view over the estuary. There are two comfortable sofas and and a modern glass-topped dining table with six dining chairs.<BR><BR>The kitchen has been entirely refitted with a slate-effect tiled floor, classic white cabinets and a tastefully tiled splashback around the entire room. Aberfal 'the mouth of the Fal': originally called Peny-cwm-cuic, which later became 'Pennycomequick', it was here that Henry VIII built Pendennis Castle to defend Carrick Roads, in 1540. The main town was at Penryn. Sir John Killigrew created the town of Falmouth shortly after 1613.<BR><BR>The Falmouth Packet Service operated out of Falmouth for over 160 years between 1689 and 1851.
