Our fourth stay-that says it all
Having had several COVID abhorted attempts at staying and rebooking we finally arrived for our fourth stay. Jo could not have been more helpful in helping us continually manage our bookings and the communication from beginning to end is excellent. The cottage information pack pre arrival exceeds any I have know before. The cottage is immaculately clean and cared for; warm, cosy and comfortable with excellent beds. Loads of hot water/towels/kitchen equipment. It's not over fussy in terms of decor and "stuff" but enough to make you feel at home. There is an amazing arrivals pack too which contains upteen goodies with a great selection of teas/sugar/coffee provided. There is a plentiful supply of hot water and heating (especially in the winter months) and the cottage is located a brief walk from both the river Dee and town. This makes it an ideal venue to leave the car when going out. Handbridge has a variety of small shops for little essentials and some nice walsk too. Parking off road is a bonus. All in all, there is nothing not to like and will rebook all the time we need to visit Chester for family reasons.

What a gem !
This was our little home whilst visiting Chester for a few days and honestly wish we could have stayed longer. Great communication right from the start. Walked in and felt like home and a nice leisurely stroll away from town. Very well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge and beds and linen spot on. I took lots of photos as copying bits and pieces of the cottage back home in Brisbane, Australia. Will be back next year for longer.

Best holiday home ever!
I went with my mum, my sister and my dad. We all really enjoyed the stay and would love to go again. The house is very well organised every time we go there. The cottage is not too far away from the city, and has lots of good books to read, games to play, and films to watch if you haven't brought any. In short, Bakers cottage is the best holiday home in Chester, and after you've stayed once, you'll want to go back again and again!

Just Perfect
Bakers Cottage is just perfect ... We were so surprised at the lovely welcome pack which was more than just tea, coffee & milk ( Not going to give it away, book and you will see what I mean). The location is around 15 minutes walk into the City and the River Dee. 'Top Tip' if you want to drive in... Park up in Victoria Crescent and walk over Queens Park Bridge to The Groves where you can access the river trips. The cottage is located in a leafy tree lined street with amble parking. Many thanks Jo, you have a fantastic place to holiday!!!!!

Warm and cosy
This was our second visit to the cottage and hopefully not our last. Again, everything is well organised to make the stay as easy and comfortable as possible. This ranges from the booking package sent out full of info to the lovely instructions around the cottage. There is a lovely hospitality set on arrival and everything beautifully clean and tidy, simple yet tasteful. Parking is plentiful with an easy jaunt to the local shops, the river, meadows and city centre. It makes for a relaxing break.

Perfect spot for a visit to Chester
We had a lovely family weekend at Bakers' Cottage. Handbridge is a great location for walking into Chester and enjoying the many shops, restaurants and activities on offer. The cottage itself was clean and well appointed with lots of helpful advice and nice touches, such as the welcome hamper. We hope to come back again!

A lovely christmas stay
We had a great stay in Bakers Cottage. Our family of 4 found the cottage to be comfortable, well equipped and in a great location. There was a lovely Christmassy welcome hamper, a gorgeous Christmas tree and some decorations which really made the house feel welcoming and festive. We will be staying again.

We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed your Christmas in Chester and we’re delighted to hear that you’ll be back. We love being there around this time of year - it’s such a great city for getting into the festive spirit with its Christmas market, traditional pubs and the Christmas trees and music at the cathedral. We always like to leave a decorated tree in the cottage to make it feel extra Christmassy for our December guests. Jo & Peter

A wonderful gem in the city centre
The cottage is ideally situated in a quiet but central, city location just 10mins walk from all amenities. Handbridge itself is lovely and has a range of local shops and walks. The cottage is exquisitely clean and so well tthought out for the guests. Ample tea/coffee/s were supplied and everything done to make the stay as cofie and carefree as possible. The owner has obviously put the customers needs as of utmost importance. There was a ready supply of wood, coal and kindling to have a fire; beds and bedding comfortable; plenty of hot water and heating and a great array f books, games and childrens toys all without clutter. We booked to stay again during our stay. The owner always responds proptly to queries and the instructions for everything was easy to follow and supplied both in hard copy and eletronically.

Lovely Cottage- Home from home.
My husband and myself had a lovely week's holiday in Chester, staying at Baker's Cottage was the icing on the cake. It was lovely and clean and had everything you could want for a week's holiday. On a rainy day it was so cosy to come home to. There are so many things to do in and around Chester. Jo left us a welcome pack which was very much appreciated.

About the neighborhood
Chester is a beautiful old English city with a unique walled centre. It’s in North West England on a loop in the river Dee. The city is rich in history from its days as an ancient Roman port to its medieval buildings which give the city centre its uniquely English character. These buildings now house a wealth of shops, cafes and restaurants, making Chester a great place for a weekend city break. Chester is also home to the UK’s number one zoo, set in award winning gardens and a short drive or bus ride from the city centre. Baker’s cottage is in an Edwardian terrace in a quiet residential area with a wide mix of housing stock as you might expect in an area convenient to a city centre.
Getting around
The Cross, which is generally accepted as marking Chester city centre, is 0.8 miles which, at average walking speed is about 15 minutes from the house. Although it is easily walkable, we appreciate that guests may not want to walk after a long day's shopping or late at night and in that case we recommend using one of the reasonably priced and reliable local taxi firms (we provide their phone numbers in the cottage).
Access
Car not needed
How to get there
20 minutes from the M53 by car or 10 minutes by taxi from Chester train station.
