About the neighborhood
Artlegarth Lodges are in a perfect position for exploring both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks but there is plenty to do right on the doorstep too: Ravenstonedale lies at the foot of the Howgill and Wild Boar fells offering excellent opportunities for walking. Pamphlets are provided in your lodge for twenty local walks in Ravenstonedale and Kirkby Stephen, some of them leaving from the doorstep of your lodge. With plenty of options you can choose from a gentle stroll right through to an enthusiastic yomp. Artlegarth Lodges are a short scenic stroll (one mile) down a quiet country lane to the village of Ravenstonedale with its popular two real ale pubs, The Black Swan and The Kings Head, which both serve fantastic food.
Getting around
By foot or the classiv coach bus service are great ways to explore the area, bikes can be hired and Horse trekking can also be booked locally. Directions From the M6 Turn off at junction 38 and take the second exit at the roundabout signposted for Kirkby Stephen / Brough A685. Continue along for about 10 – 15 minutes, once you drive through Newbiggin on Lune get ready to spot the Ravenstonedale turn off on the right. Take the turning and follow the road, passing The Kings head pub on the right and then take a right hand turn after the wood yard. Drive passed the school following the road as it turns left and then a sharp right around The Black Swan. Keep following the road out of the village where you will see a signpost for Artlegarth s
