House Rental
Perfect for a family or group of friends who want to explore the
beautiful south east coast of Cornwall. Pet-friendly and sleeping 6 in
four bedrooms, it provides plenty of space. Set across two levels with
the living accommodation on the upper level, there are outstanding
views across Polruan and over to the picturesque, estuary town of
Fowey. With a couple of local pubs and a passenger ferry which takes
you across the river from the Quay, you can leave your car parked up
and enjoy your exploring on foot. A short drive will take you to the
fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, and a little further away there
are plenty of local gardens, country houses and famous attractions to
try out.

Amazing views.... needs TLC
The house is at the top of the hill in Polruan, overlooking the harbour towards Fowey. The view from the window is absolutely breathtaking. We had a lovely holiday.. Polruan and Fowey are both interesting and quaint. Walks along the coastal path and beaches are beautiful. Swimming in Readymoney cove, fantastic food at Appleton’s, Lugger Inn and afternoon teas at the Harbour Hotel were particularly memorable.
There is a caveat however...the house was dusty in parts and is in need of a little updating, redecorating and tending to the garden. A minimum requirement for comfort would most certainly be new beds/mattresses, bedding and lounge furniture. These could easily be achieved by the property managers to make this a place to recommend and return to.

Disappointing accommodation
On arrival, the porch door was rotten and didn't lock. Opposite the door were the stairs leading to the lower floor bedrooms/bathroom. The stairgate was broken and not properly attached to the wall. If anyone had leaned on it, they would have fallen down the stairs. The uninviting balcony was covered with bird droppings and the white rendering was green mouldy. There was also mould inside, above the lounge window. There was a notice saying it was "No mow May", but the garden clearly hadn't been tended for quite some time, being knee deep in grass and weeds and dotted with dog mess. The surrounding paths were also full of weeds. A gardener was sent round and it took him and his assistant seven hours to strim and tidy the garden, but it still needed further attention. The furniture in the lounge has seen better days but the kitchen is very nice and the bedrooms are fine. The management company tried to put things right but, sadly, this house needs a lot of attention.
The views across the harbour to Fowey are amazing, but I wouldn't stay here again. We were offered no reduction or compensation.

DO NOT TRUST THIS HOST.
House booked in September 2024. Booked through Booking.com. Paid full invoice at time of booking. Flights all booked as is car hire.
Host cancelled our booking, without explanation. Suspect they took a more profitable, longer stay from another group.
Host asked us to cancel on Booking.com, when told that we were not prepared to do that as we did not want to cancel, they cancelled saying pre-payment not received. A total fabrication.
Incredibly disappointed. Now have to change location (dates not flexible and unable to secure another 4 bed in immediate vicinity).
Really underhand dealings. I would have thought trust was very important in this industry.
