Cottage
Gorrig Cottage is a delightful pet friendly holiday cottage, newly renovated in 2013 to the highest standards attached to the Grade II listed Gorrig Farmhouse. Set in beautiful Countryside close to the small town of Llandysul with many active holiday pursuits available in the area - from fishing on the River Teifi to canoeing, cycling, walking and pony-trekking. And in addition the fantastic Cardigan Bay coast is only 10 miles away!
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a living/dining room with inglenook and wood burner; modern, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom; enclosed and sunny garden and courtyard with off road parking. All this has been carefully restored from a barn and piggery attached to the farmhouse to provide a wonderful self catering holiday in an idyllic setting.
We stayed here for a week with our two children (aged 5 and 4) and we had an amazing time!
We arrived to the hosts tending the garden and were given a really friendly welcome - and a pot of homemade Jam - which was delish!
The cottage is a brilliant size and has everything you need (and lots of extras) It was also spotless!
The hosts were always available if needed!
The garden is beautiful! And very safe for the kids to play - all enclosed :)
We had an amazing week! And visited lots of local places - Tenby, new quay, the dinosaur park, Carmarthen and folly’s.
Can’t wait to come back!

Magical Stay
We stayed for the weekend at the beginning of December. The weather was frosty, but the welcome couldn’t have been warmer. Lovely, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and a private garden. The location is rural, but beautiful. Perfect for a quiet getaway with dogs. Looking forward to a return visit.

Amazing 😍
What an absolutely stunning place !!!! You can always find fault with something ....but we aren't even looking! Without doubt an 11 out of 10 lol !! Owners are fab ...Welsh cakes, milk tea and coffee for arrival too 😍

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area and very relaxed, kind, friendly, owners.
Dark skies for the astronomers and owls hooting to please nature-lovers.

Lovely break, perfect cottage and hosts.
Had a lovely time. Thankyou so much Alan and Mair, everything was perfect and the secure garden a bonus for the dogs. Everything we needed was there and it was an ideal base for visiting some lovely places in Wales.
Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be returning. Thankyou again.

Utterly perfect!
We struggled for a while to find accommodation that would allow us to bring our 3 Jack Russells with us, as most places have a 2-dog limit. After a quick, easy, and pleasant conversation with Mair, she very kindly agreed to let us stay. After lots and lots of let downs, this was the first big thumbs up about Gorrig Cottage for us! I was on the verge of giving up and writing off the idea that we could ever have the holiday we wanted with our dogs, but Mair and Alan made it possible with absolutely no fuss.
Contactless check in was easier than I could possibly have imagined. I was in touch with Mair the day before and she explained where we would find the keys. We were able to let ourselves in as soon as we arrived and got settled in our own time without any hanging around.
The cottage itself is quaint and quiet; a perfect little escape to the country. We fell in love with the wood burner instantly and loved that Mair and Alan provided a couple of days of wood and coal for us to use. Although the weather was lovely over the weekend, it made the living room so warm and cosy, we couldn't resist putting it on each night. The layout is spacious for a 2-bed cottage and was the perfect size for us. A lovely, well equipped kitchen overlooks both the front courtyard and the back garden which is closed in - if you have 4 legged children, the only way they could get out is if they can jump the hip-height fence at the back. I also have to mention the amazingly comfy double bed in the main bedroom!
One thing we really appreciated a lot was that Mair and Alan left us to our own devices. We knew they were next door if we needed anything, but they didn't encroach on our space at all. Under normal circumstances we would have introduced ourselves, but one of our dogs was attacked a couple of weeks ago which has caused us all sorts of problems, including her being extremely skittish and reactive around people and animals she doesn't know. We were so worried about how she might be over the weekend, but the cottage was the perfect slice of paradise for us to escape to.
We will definitely be booking to stay again, hopefully for a week next time, and we can't wait to go back!
One note to mention, the gateway into the little courtyard outside the cottage is quite narrow. If you have a large vehicle or are not a confident driver, you might struggle to make the turn. It would be worth having a quick chat with the owners about alternative parking, just so you know your options. Under no circumstances would this put me off coming back, but as a nervous driver myself relying in the wife to do it all, it was something I noticed!

Perfect location for touring Cardigan Bay
Beautiful rural setting, ideal location for touring the picturesque coastal resorts of Cardigan Bay. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing holiday.

Cosy and peaceful
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gorrig Cottage.
We were greeted by one of the owners who was warm and welcoming. A packet of Welsh cakes was also left in the kitchen which was a nice treat.
We were surprised by how spacious the cottage was as there are not that many pictures online. The kitchen, bathroom and utility room area in particular was a good size. There was also a variety of cooking utensils that allowed us to cook brownies and pies. We found that everything in general was nice and clean.
The cottage felt a little cold upon first arrival, but that was so surprise given that we visited in December, but after having the heating vents plugged in, the place soon warmed up.
For any future visitors, I would advise care if using a Sat Nav to find the post code. Ours took us up a very steep country road when travelling from the Carmarthen direction. However, if you ignore this turning and carry on straight down the road, the Cottage is on the left (kind of on a junction) and is visible from the main road.
All in all, was a lovely weekend break for myself, my partner and our pet.

Told not to close windows,had to ask for heating to be put on. Constant barking from next doors three dogs.
Had to ask for heating to be put on for my parents in their 80,s. Told not to close windows despite it being chilly.
I had a very timid,epileptic dog and checked with SYKES that the garden wasn’t shared as she wouldn’t go in it otherwise. Owner confirmed it was fine. Next doors three dogs barked near constantly all week,waking us in early hours on one occasion and my dog wouldn’t leave the cottage due to the noise at the adjoining fence.
Whilst next door isn’t the owners responsibility,surely that I had said about my timid dog would have prompted her to disclose the noise. She obviously knew as she said
,’yes,they are abit yappy’ . We left a day early as we couldn’t bear it any longer. Owner refused any partial goodwill refund.
If you want a quiet,peaceful holiday I would not recommend this property under any circumstances.

Rather unfair. Every room in the cottage has heating which the guests control, central heating in June is not expected. No one asked for any refund, so no refusal could be made. Yes the next door dogs are a bit happy, but no one can guarantee silence, even in the countryside. I’m sorry that the customer wasn’t happy, but I had not been told of any special needs for their party.

Relaxing break for anyone
The cottage was very clean and cosy everything was there to make a break stress free.Welcomed with welsh cakes tea coffee milk which was a nice touch. The wood burner made the cottage very cosy the beds were so comfy, bedding towels all clean and crisp. In the kitchen everything was clean and you had no need take any extra bits and pieces. Owners were on hand if you needed them but they didn't bother you at all,as we took two dogs the local walks were very good and having a small garden for them was great. I would recommend this Cottage to anyone....
