Lovely and spacious with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Location is fabulous. Just drive in any direction for 5 minutes and the scenery and views are breathtaking.

We had a wonderful time in this lovely cottage, and don't let the word cottage deceive you the rooms are all large especially the newly fitted kitchen. Everything you should need is provided. It was so relaxing and the owners so friendly and helpful when you want it and leave you enjoy your stay. A very good base to explore the surrounding area. Highly recommend

I have just had the pleasure of staying here alone with my 3 dogs. I didn't realise it was the whole building until I arrived. A lovely large and comfortable cottage with everything you need there. There was tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits which was welcome after our long journey. There is enough parking for 2 cars. The village is small and everyone seems so friendly. I don't think I passed anyone that didn't smile and say hello. Whilst staying there, I walked some of the Wear Dale Way, visited Hamsterley forest, Druridge Bay Beach and Hadrians Wall (all recommended). Also visited the local villages of Stanhope and Wolsingham. Plenty of shops there and a bank. Frosterley has a chippy and a co-op. 2 pubs but only tried the Black Bull. Lovely food but a bit pricey and limited if vegetarian. There is only one negative for me about this cottage and that was it had no enclosed area at all if you have a dog meaning lead on and out the door with them! Unfortunately mine were a bit stressed after the long journey and I had to get dressed to take them to have a toilet break during the night several times for the 1st couple of nights. They would only need a tiny pathed fenced area which would have been ideal (like the neighbours opposite). I appreciate this may be not cosmetically as pleasing perhaps. If you don't have dogs or you can safely let yours out the door without them roaming then you won't be disappointed with this cottage and I would highly recommend it. The cottage and owner are lovely and accommodating. Sadly I will have to look for enclosed gardens on my next trip away as I didn't realise how important that would become for us.

We stayed at Betsdale at Christmas to be near family in Lanchester, but thanks to the location we were also able to look up old friends in the Lake District (fantastic drive there!) and Stocksfield. The house is perfectly well equipped with everything we needed- oven, fridge, heating, TV, sofas, 3 lovely bedrooms and was fantastically roomy. There's a great butchers in the village. Val the hostess was really friendly and met us there with the keys. We would definitely stay again
