The Barn is not your classic big farm barn, this is a Newfoundland barn, enough to keep supplies a cow and hay for the winter. Today it is a liveable breathing space. Today we are about 1 hour from St. John's, the original settlement would have have been more than a day's horse ride from there. We are really at the end of the road, from our harbour you can go out to sea, or you go back to where you came from, or you can up into La Manche Park (hiking). Please in our neighborhood, still fish when they can, cut their own wood, some grow food, others go away to work in the oil projects, others are local carpenters. It is a colorful neighborhood. The barn has running water and rudimentary items for preparing a very basic meal. You will have a bbq available as well as a washer and dryer. Full bathroom is outside of the Barn but very close and it is shared with the Shed.

Authentic Newfoundland
What a wonderful place. Our barn was so comfy that it felt like home. Our picture window looked out on the wharf and we watched fishermen coming and going and congregating to clean fish. We felt like part of the community. We were given cod on our first day and we hired Kenny to take us out to see whales and dolphins and puffins and eagles. Our friendly host gave us tips on good restaurants and trails nearby. Even the outdoor shower was a delight: hot water from a wide shower head was as refreshing as any fine hotel. If you’re looking for adventure and a taste of local Newfoundland life, this is it.

A gem!
This is a perfect combination of "roughing it" luxuriously! Lol! We stayed in the Barn, a very quaint little building with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. The owners greeted us with muffins and jam and were extremely helpful throughout our 5 night stay. It is rustic so if you do not like spiders (and potentially other critters) then this is not for you but otherwise it is a cute, quiet place in Beauline East.

Just wonderful in every way !
We stayed in the barn for 3 nights at the end of our month long trip across Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Without a doubt this was our favourite place to stay ! George and Chabela are the perfect hosts - super welcoming, making sure you have everything, really interesting people to chat to and with loads of local knowledge. They hooked us up with local guide Sean , and his awesome dog Grizz, who took us on an amazing private boat trip out to see the puffins and other wildlife. If you stay don't miss this ! Their property really is a slice of heaven - the barn was soooo cool, fires on the beach, bbqs, great company ...we didn't want to leave ! Ivan and Rach

25th anniversary a hit
This place exceeded our expectations by far! It was everything the ad said it was. Rustic, quaint and cute! To top off the day was the east coast trails just up a lane from this place. A must do for the adventurous ones!

Everything you need in a weekend get away
This is our second time staying on this property and we highly recommend visiting. We also stayed the previous labor day weekend in 2015. We adore this property and all of its character. The bunky, barn, cottage and cabin have everything to make you feel at home and make the space your own for your stay no matter how short of time you are there. On property George and his partner have thought of everything, right down to the smallest detail. Anything you may have forgotten is at your finger tips, from an umbrella or an extra sweater to a walking stick. The property is set up so that you can chose to have your own space, or to use the communal amenities and make friends with the other guests. It is a great opportunity to make friends from all over the globe! George keep up the great work, you've created something truly unique.

Rustic Rooms by the Cove
Our stay was relaxing and entertaining. Our Hosts Chabela and George were the consummate welcoming and helpful managerséowners. We stayed for one nite of lively conversation, great food( make sure you accept the offer of an optional dinner of local seafood with a flair ) . We had codcakes and fresh fish with wine and conversation from our thoughtful hosts. The quaint fishing town by the sea and rustic accomodation - clean neat and many extras to make our stay a restful and relaxing adventure. ( the location is also close to hiking on the East Coast trail). If you are expecting city slick hotel type digs this is not for you. The Barn by the Sea was perfect for our tour of Newfoundland..
