Warm, fully equipped, spacious cottage
We felt true warmth from the host Jacqueline and the cottage as soon as we stepped over the threshold.
Extremely well equipped dining kitchen with coffee machines, airfryer, m/w, lots of crockery, cutlery and glassware.
A large double bedroom, shower room and upstairs lounge led off one side of the kitchen. To the other side was a large downstairs lounge and stairs leading to a huge bedroom with king-size bed, a large double bedroom and a bathroom.
The downstairs bedroom was great for mobility challenged
A small private area with sheltered seating, bbq and picnic bench was outside. Plus larger garden beyond.
Masses of fluffy towels, bathrobes, cosy throws, t towels, toiletries.
Plenty hot water for 6 of us
On arrival, lovely homemade cake, scones and jam. Milk, butter and eggs in fridge. Apples and oranges.
Parking right outside
Excellent base for Hadrians wall.
Dog friendly

Terrific Cottage
This was warm, comfortable very well equipped and with downstairs bedroom and bathroom perfect for 89 year old mum
The garden is a wonder and we had very relaxing times in the summerhouse
There are two living rooms perfect for when there if football on the tv!!
The location is handy for all sorts whether you're a walker or not
The lady who owns the cottage Jacqueline is a great cook and we had two home cooked meals to say nothing of the great hospitality waiting for us
Being old the house can be a bit creaky and has things like latches which make a bit of noise so very light sleepers might notice
A great cottage

Thanks for your review, sorry if the latches kept you awake the cottage was built in 1796 as a dairy/barn and converted by previous owners and I guess the planners felt the doors etc. were in keeping with its history and age we like them sorry! Hope everything else made up for it. Best wishes Jacqueline

Excellent hospitality
A comfortable house, well placed for visiting all the Roman Wall sites and museums. The stand-out feature is the quality and quantity of food provided on arrival - cake, scones, milk, butter, fresh fruit and chocolates, and even treats for the dog. Our host Jacqueline cooked lasagne for us one night, brought in straight from the oven at the agreed time, delicious and very reasonably priced. We felt very well looked after.

Amazing Cottage
Just returned from an amazing 4-night stay with the family (and 2 dogs) at The Old Brewery Cottage in Melkridge, Northumberland.
We have had an awesome stay! Jacqueline the owner is so helpful, friendly and generous. On arrival, we found fresh scones, delicious cake, butter, jam ... plus wine, eggs and milk in the fridge!
The cottage is so spacious, clean and comfortable with ample room for us six adults and two dogs. The garden is beautiful too with a pond, summerhouse and enclosed space for the dogs.
We will certainly highly recommend this cottage to family and friends. We hope to return very soon.
Thank you so much for making our stay so relaxing and special.

Brilliant
We stayed for a week shortly after coronavirus restrictions were eased in July 2020. The cottage was perfect for us, very spacious and the layout is very well suited to having two couples staying with their own bedrooms and bathrooms at each end of the cottage. As others have said, Jacqueline is a great host (cake and scones on arrival too!) and almost everything has been thought of and provided, even with a few of the 'high touch' items removed to comply with gov guidelines. Our toddler had a great time exploring the garden and making friends with the dog and the chickens. Truly couldn't have been better. Thank you!

Lovely cottage with fabulous homely touches
Brilliant place for a weekend away. Spacious cottage, beautifully furnished and equipped. My daughter loved having her own 'suite' with bathroom and living room. The owner, Jackie, added the finishing touches with delicious scones and cake and dog walking suggestions. Looks like a lovely spot for walking but unfortunately the weather didn't oblige. Will return at some point to explore.

Wonderful break with lots of luxury
Had a great time in the Old Brewery. Can’t thank the owners enough for all the wonderful touches including baked scones and home made jam. Jackie and her hubby are lovely and the cottage is amazing. Beautiful bedrooms 2 sitting rooms and very dog friendly. Jackie even leaves doggy treats. We had a great time visiting the coast, wonder walks and exploring the countryside ! If you want a great place to explore Northumberland then this is the place . Plus Jackie will deliver home cooking to order !
