This lovely brick and flint cottage is one of a terrace of three cottages, on a quiet country lane at the mid-point between the four villages of Great Walsingham, Wighton, Binham and Hindringham. It looks onto rolling fields in all directions and has a beautiful large wild garden of about half an acre, full of flowers. You cannot beat it for a rural retreat, about ten minutes' drive from the North Norfolk coast, with its glorious beaches. Downstairs is a newly-fitted kitchen, with electric twin oven, microwave, induction hob and dishwasher, and a separate pantry with fridge and freezer. The kitchen is open to the dining-room, which has a working fireplace and gives onto a paved south-facing terrace, with a table and benches for outdoor meals, all looking across the fields. Next to the dining room is a spacious sitting room with a new TV (can play Catch-up TV) and DVD player, wood-burning stove and i-pod dock. Upstairs is a large bedroom with a superking-sized bed, a twin bedroom and a single bedroom. The two double bedrooms have incredible views over the fields behind the cottage, while the single bedroom looks out on the front garden. All the beds have electric blankets. The bathroom has a walk-in shower as well as a bath. The brick outhouse behind the cottage has a garden room with a second fridge and a washing machine, as well as a wet-room which provides a useful second loo as well as another shower (great for washing children straight from the beach or muddy dogs). The cottage is very much a family home and is furnished as such: it has a personal feel to it, and a stay here will feel like going to a friend's house. There are family paintings on the walls, and some of the furniture is antique, as are the Turkish kilims, but some things are more shabby. There is wifi, and pets are welcome by arrangement, but no smoking inside the cottage please. Bed linen and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels. Firewood will be provided for visitors staying between October and April.

Amazing Cottage
One of the best family holidays was spent in this very loved home. We felt welcomed and at home from the moment we arrived. Henrietta, the owner could not of been more accommodating and thoughtful with her emails and welcoming bottle of wine and delicious fudge. The paintings are an inspiration to any art lover, and the garden is an utter delight. The views from the house and garden are stunning and a pleasure to sit and while away the end of the day, watching amazing sunsets and waiting for Barnaby, the resident owl to preen himself and take flight. I have returned home full of creative ideas for my garden. We will most certainly be returning.

Idyllic cottage with beautiful gardens
We have stayed at 1 Field House Cottages a couple of times now and really love it. It's a special place - in a peaceful and beautiful spot but close enough to the coast for trips to the beach at Wells and further beyond. The cottage is homely and welcoming and we (a family of 5 plus a dog) have stayed there very comfortably. The kitchen is particularly well stocked with all the utensils etc you could need. The real attraction for us alongside its location is the garden which is gorgeous. Beautiful and unspoilt with stunning flowers when we've visited both in the Spring and Autumn - it's really lovely. Henrietta is really helpful and welcoming and we look forward to hopefully visiting again!

Outstanding cottage
We had a truly memorable time in this wonderfully well equipped house with its exquisite garden and tasteful decor. The historic setting and idyllic countryside enhanced the whole experience and we will definitely be back. We arrived stressed and fraught and left fresh and energised. The pink garden swing seat, wild hares and local dairy were all highlights. We highly recommend this property.

Lovely rural setting. Stunning wild flower gardens. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage which has been beautifully furnished with an eclectic mix of paintings and soft furnishings. We loved it and wanted for nothing. Great location with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again another time - perhaps when there has not been such a period of drought for the poor garden!

Just delightful!
I am very elderly, but at 93 yrs I had the most delightful stay. The beds are extremely comfortable as is the sofa! (The stairs are steep but manageable) I came at Christmas and it was beautifully decorated and very warm. `The log fire blazed away and there were good films to watch whilst the rest of the party went out for windy beach walks with the dogs. We had excellent local food and so much fun that I am longing to come again if someone will drive me there. We were a party of nine ( one family took the cottage next door) but even so this cottage never felt too small with us all in it although it was quite snug! A delightful stay in a delightful cottage.

We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday and hope that you will return in warmer months - the joys of the summer months outside are a wonderful contrast to the comfort of sitting by the fire on cold winter days!

A home from home in a beautiful countryside setting
We had a fantastic long weekend at this very pretty traditional flint cottage. Our dogs absolutely loved running wild on the expansive beaches at Holkham and Wells, both of which are an easy drive away. The cottage itself is warm, clean and cosy with a well kitted out kitchen and a very pretty garden which has lovely views out over the surrounding fields. The excellent Walsingham Farm Shop is well worth a visit. It was the perfect anti-dote to life in London and we hope to be back next year - thank you for a great few days!

Idyllic rural retreat
We have just returned from the most wonderful rural family retreat. This is a very cosy rustic cottage(you get the home away from home feeling instantly) which sits perched on a beautiful property with fabulous vistas across the countryside. You are surrounded by beautiful rambling gardens, a great grassy area for children to play in and a hilltop swing for morning coffee and evening drinks. Henrietta has an amazing art collection throughout the house! The house is nestled in a very quiet rural location but nearby is the beautiful coast (we visited the beach at, Wells Next the Sea, Brancaster and Cley Next the Sea; all offering a different vibe but with beautiful sea views and huge beaches! The farm shop in little Waslingham was brilliant for food, wine and treats. Great little shops in Burnham market, Thornham deli and shop, Drove orchards with boutique shops and great fish and chips at Eric's (outdoor seating and kids play area adjacent) We visited the seals at Blankness with Bishops boats, a great boat ride and insight into that area of the coast. Also spent a morning on the Holkham Estate which has a great wooden adventure playground the kids loved. Two children (boys 2,4) a birdwatcher, and two moms who love outdoors were all very delighted with what North Norfolk has to offer and 1 Field House Cottage is the perfect spot to stay! On our last night we had a show from Barnaby the Owl who soared up and down the neighbouring fields hunting for dinner! We would definitely recommend this cottage to friends who are looking to discover this beautiful neck of the woods. Thank you Henrietta for all your emails and helpfulness! Kate and family

Somewhere Rather Special
We had a lovely long weekend in this gorgeous cottage. The interior is delightful and feels like you are visiting someone's lovely home rather than renting a commercial property. While being completely practical and well-equipped, it is also full of original art, oriental rugs and unique pieces of furniture that make you feel you are somewhere rather special. Set among gentle hills, there are undisturbed views over the countryside for miles, the birdlife is abundant and we even saw hares leaping through the flowers in the front garden in the early morning! The pretty back garden backs directly onto a paddock and is large, with several different seating areas perfect for catching the sun at different times of the day. There are good walks across the fields accessible from the lane and there is almost no passing traffic, which is perfect for children and dogs and anyone seeking a change from the bustle of everyday life. It's an easy drive to the north Norfolk coast where beach walks abound, and the villages and towns nearby offer all the usual amenities plus a good selection of specialist food and antique shops. The owner, Henrietta, was very helpful and keen to make sure that our stay was perfect. It's the perfect location for a relaxing and inspiring break and writing this review is making me long to return before too long.

Just perfect
We were a group of 2 adults and 5 teenagers and had the most wonderful stay. The cottage is so beautifully located with glorious views and you could spend an evening sitting outside and watching as the sun went down and the wildlife came out we spotted bats and birds of prey on the first night. The house and kitchen were well equipped and the addition of the air play speaker and netflix meant that there wasn't a moment of boredom. The cottage is quirky and not modern and stark but this makes it feel really homely and comfortable. It is also spacious with lots of areas both inside and out that you could sit and relax or escape with a glass of wine. Washing machine was also a god send particularly after daily trips to the beach. Locally we had fantastic trips to Holkham Hall, Holme Dunes (great for beach games and kite flying), crabbing and sea fishing in Wells and shopping in Holt. We would go back here without a moments hesitation - in fact we liked it so much we are now searching for something in the area as a getaway!

peaceful location with easy access to all of North Norfolk's attractions
Our stay was very relaxing made all the easier by the owners attention to detail in the layout of the cottage and helpful welcoming notes. The location was very rural set in a very quiet lane with total privacy. and a beautiful picture postcard cottage garden. Touring the main coastal villages and walks are less than half an hour away and for great food would recommend the Duncow in Salthouse or the Wiveton Hall Cafe

About the neighborhood
The cottage is in an exceptionally beautiful spot, sited at the midpoint between the four villages of Great Walsingham, Hindringham, Binham and Wighton, in a row of four labourers' cottages on a small lane. The views to the back across the rolling hills and water meadows are just stunning. The nearest pub is under 2 miles away in Binham, which also has a good shop and petrol. Two miles in the other direction is Little Walsingham with its excellent restaurant, the Norfolk Riddle, and wonderful farm shop
