We have just stayed at Tattershall Lakes from 2nd-5th June for the Jubilee celebrations.
On arrival at 10.30 we were not allowed in to the complex as check in was 3.30, even though we could not get booked in at any of the restaurants until 8.30pm we had to book for 2.45pm (on the app) we did get in for this. We had to go up the road to a farm to pass 4 hours (which was lovely but cost £48 entry) Why would the park email you all the activities happening on 2nd June if you could not then go into the complex, this did not make sense, so the children couldn't join in the activities on 2nd June. If I were to book again go for the early check in.
Everything you do you practically have to book, so do this really early or you may be disappointed if all booked up especially for the height of the season ie, your summer hols. You have to book the outdoor Lido and the swimming pool. For us it was all booked up before we went and we did not think we would get in swimming. Managed to get the spalsh zone booked for the second day and then just on the off chance asked and we could get in. So this was good the staff were very good the lifeguard does a head count and then if ok you can go in, but I imagine this being hard at the peak times. Every meal etc you need to book. We only ate in the Propeller restaurant once but it was very good food and a lovely view over the lake.
We arrived at our caravan and it was lovely and clean, we booked a 3 bed standard caravan with no frills no decking or hot tub and it was fine as we were not in the caravan for long. For only 3 nights I couldn't justify the double in price for some decking or hot tub.
The caravan was a bit far out but it was a lovely walk in to the complex.
The evening entertainment had positives and negatives, the entertainment itself and staff were very good, the bingo was fun with singing and dancing. We had a great first night there.
Maybe a suggestion though to charge everyone a pound for the bingo and get a bigger or better complex or tent.
The system to get a table was ridiculous, I had our boy upset as we could not get in for the the entertainment and he was cold. Basically you have to queue outside if the tent and tables are full and wait for families to come out then you can go in.
One lady queuing behind me asked me how you get in so I told her she then went to the front of the queue, the security guard asked if her friends were in there she looked around and said yes she then looked back at her family who were stood behind us and gave a thumbs up and waved them in, how mad is that, the way you get in is ridiculous and this needs changing for the summer or there could be some issues. My husband and I are very laid back and do not like confrontation but this did wind us up when you have your children upset in front of you, You show them how to behave and do the right thing then they witness this behaviour. So if you are booked here for the summer go down early before 7.30 to get your table!!!!
To away resorts change this system, get some barriers for the people queuing to get in. The eating complexes are lovely but the night time entertainment needs addressing.
The staff on the complex are very nice, our daughter did the high ropes and she thoroughly enjoyed it, the staff on there were fantastic at coaching the participants to get up higher. She smashed it and jumped at the end, this gave her great confidence in herself and she was talking about it all day. So thank you to the two guys on there for that, (sorry I didn't get your names)
Our son loved the Nerf wars too, he is 9. Just a perfect activity for him to do.
I know it seems like this review is all negative and that we did not have a good time but we did, your break is what you make it and we had a lovely family break.
Thank you to Tattershall, a lovely stay but I do not think we will be returning. We will be trying somewhere else, I think I would book with Away resorts again just a different complex and do some more research first.
