Inspired by the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, this 3-story jungle-themed paradise retreat is consistently described as 'my tropical dream house' by first-time visitors. Come and experience a true escape in this one-of-a-kind vacation rental. THE SPACE: Custom-built eco-tropical bamboo home in Ecuador's most lush and authentic coastal paradise. The tiny fishing village of Mompiche has only recently been 'discovered' for its world-class surfing point-- producing the longest warm-water left in South America. As a result, it still retains much of the rich Afro-ecuadorian culture that makes Esmeraldas Province such a memorable experience for visitors. Nestled at the southern end of a gorgeous crescent bay and surrounded by the jungles of Mache-Chindul Ecological Reserve, adventures for nature-lovers are endless here. Exuding character and warmth, this tropical home gives the feel of open-air living due to its unique structural design and abundance of windows. Fully-furnished and recently renovated, the house is constructed of locally-sourced eco-alternative materials and tropical hardwood floors, and comfortably sleeps up to six with two queen beds and one California king. KEY AMENITIES: •views of the Pacific ocean and surrounding rainforest from 2nd & 3rd floors, oversized A-frame oceanfront windows in both 3rd-floor bedrooms •well-designed kitchen with tiled island for entertaining, new 2-door chrome refrigerator, gas range, microwave, blender •interior bamboo bridge with bird's eye view of kitchen •private and spacious yard filled with lush tropical vegetation and kid-friendly swings •tiled 'greenhouse' style lounging area in master bedroom •cozy furnished front & back balconies on first floor •open floor plan between kitchen, living room, and front balcony •spacious open-air shower and modern fixtures in master bathroom •reliable wifi throughout the home and a 'magic jack' phone line that allows for free calls to/from the US •tons of DVDs and books (in English, for grown-ups & kids) for entertainment during your stay •covered car port and securely-fenced yard In short, this home achieves the perfect balance between eco-friendly rustic paradise and modern conveniences essential to comfortable living. We warmly invite you to come and experience true tropical living for yourself. GUEST ACCESS Guests have access to the entire home, minus the small storage shed out back and 'rustic' (read: too quirky) farm oven in the yard. THE NEIGHBORHOOD Situated at the center of Mompiche's most tourist-friendly neighborhood and steps from the beach, this home offers the perfect location for your stay in paradise. Dine by candlelight at tables set in the sand two doors down at romantic Suly's, sip on a tropical cocktail at the infamous 'Casi Guapo's' beachfront bar, keep an ear out for live acoustic music across the street at Bam-bu, or just kick back on whichever balcony suits your mood: secluded morning coffee & birdwatching from the loveseat out back or evening wine & people-watching from the 2-person hammock in front. Oh, the choices! GETTING AROUND Everything in Mompiche can be easily accessed by foot. 'Town' consists of a friendly village that takes approximately 5 minutes to cross, the surf point that made Mompiche famous is a 5-10 minute walk down a beautiful tropical beach, and mile upon mile of picturesque oceanfront hikes are available for exploring both to the north and south of Mompiche proper. We can provide more details about specific treasures upon your arrival! HOUSE RULES 1. Please, no smoking inside the home; on balconies only. 2. Thatch roof coverings and mosquito nets are both extremely flammable! Please carefully monitor your use of any and all flames: the gas range, smoking, candles, etc. 3. When filling the water tank, please consciously wait until it is done and TURN OFF. We do have an overflow tube, but if left running it can quickly flood and/or burn out the pump motor. 4. Please, no pets in this recently renovated and clean home. Our yard is available if you need it for them. 5. Should the electricity go out (welcome to Mompiche!), we have a small generator. Our caretaker can help you set this up, as they know all the quirks of what to disconnect etc. 6. Why would your deposit get docked? General damages that require us to replace or repair something or excessive dirtiness of any kind. ABOUT THE HOSTS, AMY & MORONGO We are a surfer-biologist husband-wife team and three full-throttle little boys that adore what makes Mompiche Mompiche: abundant nature, friendly people, the ocean, a slower pace of life, the jungles, and authenticity. We welcome you to our home!More

I stayed at this amazing Bamboo family home with my husband, another couple and a friend (5ppl total) in early January 2017. Our entire group loved the house, the architecture and the homey feeling. I know all the reviews say this but it really does...More

Our family of six adults spent three days in this beautiful and unique home. We enjoyed hanging out on the balconies and fixed a wonderful New Years Day meal together in the fully equipped kitchen. We were only a minute from the water and found...More

We stayed at the tropical bamboo home in August 2015. The house is just like in the pictures. It was very accessible, close to the beach. We traveled with our entire family, including two kids (6 yo) and grandparents. Kids were so excited about the...More

Thanks, Luke & Maria! Your family was an absolute joy to host-- and enjoyed the house as it was intended! It always was a "jungle book fantasy" experience for our little boys when we lived there too. We would be thrilled to have you back,...More

This was by far my favorite place we stayed in Ecuador. The entire house is made out of bamboo and has the coolest floor plan! Very comfortably furnished including all kitchen appliances. There's no place in mompiche I would rather stay.

This house looks like a magical dream house from the outside. However, as soon as we went inside, the horrors began. Scary bamboo stairs made us all feel insecure going up and down. We clung to railings to avoid falling and went very slowly each...More

Oh my-- where to start in this response? The person that left this review happens to be the best friend of another woman in town that we have had issues with-- small town life (!!). I suspect that much of her experience as described here...More
