Fownhope Chambre d'hote is ideally situated near the end of a private lane in La Baleine (a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty) which leads directly to woodland and a path beside the river Sienne. There is no passing traffic.. The house is surrounded by unspoilt countryside it is the most peaceful place to unwind in this popular part of Normandy. There is a fabulous pub/resaurant just a five minute walk from the house. Fownhope is a character house, parts of which date back 300 years. It is full of oak beams with quaint little windows and all rooms have lovely views. There is a fabulous pub/resaurant just a five minute walk from the house. Fownhope is a character house, parts of which date back 300 years. It is full of oak beams with quaint little windows and all rooms have lovely views. On the first floor of the house a wonderful old door leads to the self-contained guest suite which comprises three double bedrooms and main bathroom with a bath, wash basin. There is also a separate WC . A separate shower room on the ground floor is available for the sole use of our guests. The accommodation is suitable for family or group bookings happy to share facilities. If a couple book on their own, then they have sole occupancy. I do not let two of the rooms. So the bathroom and toilet become private facilities. Poppies has a built-in wardrobe and a pine double bed with matching furniture including two chests of drawers, two bedside tables, a stand up pine mirror and two bedroom chairs. Bluebells has a French upholstered bed with matching bedside cupboards and dressing table. There are two chairs, and built in wardrobe. The floor in this room is natural wood with a lovely silk rug. Roses contains a French double (4ft wide) sleigh bed, a bedside table, and antique marble and tiled washstand and built in wardrobe. We do have other bedrooms if required for children, they are on the floor above. All rooms are provided with tea making facilities and dressing gowns. With an excellent French restaurant within 5 minute walk. Other superb walks are accessible direct from the house. Fishing is available from the river within 200 yards of the gite. The market town of Gavray, with its choice of restaurants, banks, shops, supermarket etc is just 5 minutes away by car. A very popular market is held here every Saturday. The sandy beaches of the west coast are 20 minutes drive. The port of Granville, the famous 'copper' town of Villedieu Les Poeles, and Coutances with its cathedral are all within 20 minutes drive. Mont St Michel, Bayeux, the D-Day beaches, are an easy drive. The Tour de France will be passing through this area on 3/4 July 2016. Book early so as not to be disappointed. This area will be very busy with thousands of visitors from all over the world. This is a bed and breakfast property, we do not rent the property out as a private rental.More
