Great find!
We've been looking long and hard for the perfect farm rental in Abruzzo and pleased to say that we've found it! Casa Pietra has stunning mountain views and a great view of old town Atessa. Quiet and secluded yet not too far from shops and local amenities. Beautifully decorated with all the modern mod cons you'd expect. It just lacks a few kitchen utensils but otherwise we can't fault it! Great place.

ideal holiday retreat.
the farmhouse has been renovated to a very good standard and is in a great position with outstanding views of the countryside. I was in a group of 5 friends on a pre wedding/hen break. all the rooms were of good size and very comfortable. the showers were brilliant. (the main bedroom en-suite is to die for!!) I asked if owner could supply a surprise birthday cake on arrival, and he exceeded all expectations with not only a cake & candles, but with bubbly also!!!! the farmhouse, although several properties in the area, is quite remote, and although we had detailed instructions how to get there, we still managed to take a few wrong turns. a sat nav is a must, and be prepared for some roads to be farm tracks! everything catered for, spacious and comfortable, an ideal place for getting away from it all and relaxing!

A real relaxing gem
If you want to chill out with mountain surroundings this is for you. From the rear elevated patio you can see the picturesque fortress city of atessa, an artists dream. The accommodation is a converted stone farm house. Italian rural living at its best. You ll need a car to get the best of the area. Recommend ++

Relaxing and Peaceful Getaway with a Fantastic Host
We spent 2 weeks at the Casa Pietra staying in the Cassetta Apartment. This was perfectly adequate and could easily accommodate 4 people comfortably. There was a kingsize bed for us upstairs which made the 2 week stay worthwhile and meant we could always get a good nights sleep. We arrived late evening at Pescara Airport, where Robert kindly greeted us and took our luggage to the car. This made the transfer hassle free and we could finally relax after hours of travelling on various transport links. Robert kindly stopped for us to pick up a light supper on the way to the Cassetta as we couldn't do a food shop until the morning. We settled in to the Cassetta right away and its rustic, but homely feel made us feel at ease. Our first morning was when we realised why we had chosen to come here. The views we're breath taking and the bright sunshine was warmly welcomed after a week a drizzle and rain in England. The grounds were well maintained and provided great sunbathing through out the day. We found the double hammock on the terrace a great touch. A trip to La Morgue beach is highly recommended, extremely clean white sand and warm shallow water. Apart from a few large spiders occasionally popping up in the kitchen, we had no downfalls with the Casetta. The only possible thing to mention would be a few more utensils in the kitchen perhaps and a pizza tray for the oven. (We tried to make our own). Overall our stay was entirely relaxing and Robert was an extremely welcoming and helpful host who went out of his way to make sure we had the best possible experience. I would most certainly recommend the Casa Pietra to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. We chose it for a quiet getaway promising Italian culture and lots of sun. However, there are also plenty of things to be done providing you have a method of transport. Robert kindly drove us when needed which was a great help.

Unspoilt Italy at its best
Lovely house, very sensitively restored. Plenty of good quality showers. Good wifi and DVDs, music speakers etc. fabulous views over undulating Abruzzese countryside with Atessa in the panorama....this was topped off with the 'super moon' during our stay. It's an easy 10mins drive to gorgeous beaches with lovely safe bathing and delicious beach restaurants-authentic Italian fare and fresh seafood. The house is well supplied with a large cooker and fridge, outside dining facilities, plenty of sun loungers and a small but clean pool. The local wildlife (that we saw) includes donkeys, foxes and wild boar. The owner Robert is very helpful and attentive.

A real gem, a spacious farm house set in a truly beautiful position.
This charming Italian farm house has been refurbished wonderfully, retaining it's rustic charm but with all the 'modcons' and stunning main bathroom to make anyone feel pampered. The farm house is set in a quiet location, between a working farm and a donkey sanctuary, with a nature reserve opposite. A real winner for the outdoor, nature lover. The owner is welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. He ensured that I had everything I needed and could not do enough to help. The property was clean, the kitchen is well equipped and there was a warm welcome. Some supplies were provided in a welcome pack and there is information on the local area. I felt instantly relaxed when I arrived.

Wine, Cheese, cold cuts in tranquillity
Had a week in August for a last minute get-a-way. We want somewhere quiet and relaxing. The scenery is breath-taking. Stayed in the 'apartment' to the main house. Cracking little base with everything you needed. The owner Robert was fantastic and really helpful. If you like busy places with noise head elsewhere!

A beautiful rustic farmhouse with fantastic views
We stayed in this wonderful, rustic Italian farmhouse with amazing views to the valley, the sea and to the small town of Attessa. The house had plenty of room for us to spread out, and our en-suite bathroom was huge! Our host was welcoming, helpful, entertaining and an excellent cook! We arranged day trip to Rome by local coach which was an added bonus to our holiday. I would recommend this location for an authentic Italian holiday for those who would appreciate Italy without the tourists.

wonderful, relaxing place to stay
Stayed in apartment (as opposed to main house), facilities basic, but perfectly adequate, located out in the wilds, and yet, shops, bars, and a town close by. Amazing large beaches 20 mins drive, lots of historic places to visit, shops, restaurants and bars. Robert is a very nice well-informed host, and a superb cook too!

About the neighborhood
The house is in the province of Chieti, between the Majella National Park and the Adriatic. This area is considered one of the regions most interesting areas, due to its stunning natural beauty and landcapes, as well as its extraordinary cultural features. The area is distinguished by the presence of some of Abruzzo's most important fortresses: the majestic castle of Roccascalegna is one one of the most important. Lanciano, one of the most important and well preserved old town, with turreted alls, picturesque narrow street and churches. Vasto clutches at an insecure cliff to dominate the coast, in an astonishing natural scenario. A thriving commercial centre, lively culture and a wealth of monuments and works or art. Atessa is our local town and stands on two hills and has shops resturants and many medieval gates, arches and narrow streets. Largo di Bomba is an unspoilt natural setting with a beautiful lake and two excellent outside swimming pools. The coast line is a mix of sandy beaches and craggy reefs, accentuated by the elevated structures of the Trabocchi, ancient fishing machines, that jut out over the sea.
Getting around
Its best to have your own car to get around in, however on request the owner can offer taxi services. Local buses run from Atessa, and offer a very comprehensive list of routes - even Rome and Naples. We have a main line train station which can whip you up north or down south - its a great service.
