Perfect place to rest for a week.
Lovely location and the cottage was spotlessly clean. Fishing was excellent all week and the cottage was stocked with everything you need for a stay there. One small gripe was the heating. It was either very warm in the cottage or very cold. I think it may have been my inability to find the sweet spot with the heating! Potter Heigham is a strange little village. A massive store that sells maybe 2 or 3 things to have for dinner. Do bring some shopping with you. A lovely stay though.

Disappointed
I write this review with a very heavy heart as I have been staying at Reedsmere Cottage for over 20 years now. I have spent Christmas and New Years at Reedsmere and needles to say spent a lot of money in the process. This year I spent a total of six weeks there with my husband and my father. I can’t ever take away the beauty of the place, it is and always will be a place I hold dear to my heart and I will return again, but will not be staying in Reedsmeere Cottage and here is why. When we arrived the bunker was full of oil, it was all over. The three of us had to clean this up, which took hours and in return ruined the clothes and shoes we were all wearing. This should not have been the welcoming to our six week holiday. And the owners were aware of this and didn’t seem to concerned nor appreciative of our efforts to clear this up. Also on our first day we discovered the toilet didn’t flush. We reported it to the cleaner and they confirmed that they were already aware of the toilet not flushing. The cleaner then reported this incident to the owner who then phoned my husband and said that he would arrange for a plumber to arrive on the Tuesday. On the Tuesday my husband took ill and had to take himself off to hospital. In the morning when he left the gate was opened for the plumbers arrival. Whilst he was in hospital I stayed in the house waiting for a plumber to attend. He never did. When my husband returned he phoned the owner who said that the plumber had tried to gain entry twice, but the gate was locked. This was a lie. And in the process they basically accused the three of us of being liars, which is disgraceful and very hurtful. I was was furious over this and deeply upset. In total the three of us wasted two full days of our holiday waiting in for a plumber who was basically never coming. My husband disputed this with the owner and explained he had been in hospital all day, but myself and father had been in all day. He sniggered at this and said the plumber had definitely been and the gate was locked. Not true. This for me ruined my whole holiday as from that day, after being treated with such total lack of respect I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome in the a place that has always felt like a second home to me. It seems to me that since ownership of this place has changed in the last few years there is no respect for the clients, and long serving guests of Reedsmere. The personal touch has gone and it must all be about the money now with no real thought to people’s comfort whilst in the accommodation. I have appreciated the boat shed being opened for our use and being able to use the dryer also. But when you stay somewhere for six weeks, this is not really a big ask. And yet, we were made to feel as though we were being difficult for requesting this. When you have long serving customers like I was please never ever treat them like this. To accuse somebody of lying or worse treat them like idiots is just disgusting. I will never return here again and I hope you can learn from this going forward and treat your best guests with much more respect. Regards, Julie and Roy Stevens

Dear Mr and Mrs Stevens, I am sorry hear that you felt that not enough was done to ensure a good stay and that these issues were not dealt with to your satisfaction. In response to some oil being found we would normally expect ourselves or the cleaners to be notified and they would have come and dealt with it immediately, we were told afterwards and not told about any oil on clothing, the cleaners had not seen any oil when they left after cleaning so this must have come from a bin bag left by others. We were unaware of any clothing damage. Mr Stevens called us with an issue with the toilet, we had been having problems with it but it did flush. The husband said this was not mega urgent as it flushed with the lid off. We tried to get a plumber out who could not gain access so we came and mended it quickly ourselves. I feel there is some lack of communication here as the Mr Stevens told us everything was fine clearly from this Mrs Stevens was not happy, I am disappointed that the clients were not happy after we allowed them use of facilities such as the boat house, washing machine, tumble dryer and a freezer that were usually private as they were long time repeat customers. I would like to point out that the accommodation had been significantly improved since they visited with a previous owner with new wiring, oven, sink, shower, furniture and decorating throughout. If this had been such an issue why wait four months to make a public complaint, why not contact us directly to discuss it? This is not how we want our customers to feel after a visit, we supplied wine, beer and biscuits as a welcome gift for special long time repeat customers, so we disagree that this was not a personal service you received.

Very relaxing holiday
Reedesmere - Potter Heigham, Norfolk. Just got back from a very relaxing holiday, we found Reedesmere to be very quaint, well equipped with everything you need and peaceful, it was relaxing watching the boats go by, great fishing and wonderful wildlife swans, ducks, heron and believe it or not A SEAL swam passed us (there is a seal sanctuary a few miles away must have swam up from Yarmouth!). We stay in different cottages here every year and found Reedsmere to be one of the best, will return.

Fabulous base,beautiful scenery.
Nice and close to Lathams shop, just a short stroll. Great yarmouth always a favorite of ours. Pitch n putt. Winterton is a beautiful dog friendly beach with a lovely little cafe. Husband is a keen fisherman and caught a lot of bream.

Perfect spot for all the family!
This is the perfect escape for everyone to relax. Shops and restaurants only a short walk away where you can also hire boats and explore the Broads. We had some days out on the water and some days sitting in the garden watching all the boats go past! Comfortable clean and all well equipped. We will be back!
