Enjoyable, relaxing stay

We had a very enjoyable stay at the beautiful and comfortable vacation home from Helen and Lester! It's perfectly equipped with really everything you need, beautiful interior, nice bbq area and pool. You really feel home there. The location is perfect for exploring the island; Corfu city is very close aswell some of the most beautiful beaches. The final road to the villa is a bit bumpy and google maps likes to send you another (even more bumpy and quite steep) way to the house- avoid that one and just follow the description Helen is sending you. The mattress was for us far too soft but that is the only little minus point I can come up with. I definitely can recommand stay at the Ville Athena!

Strongly recommend.

We had a 10 day stay at the Villa, everything fantastic. Quiet neighborhood, the villa is equipped with everything you need. The pool next to the Villa was used very often. When we felt like a bit of madness, 15 minutes on foot there is Aqualand corfu. If you have a car very close to the capital and nearby beautiful beaches. I heartily recommend, in my opinion a good price for rent.

Beautiful spacious villa with stunning garden and pool @ the perfect location

Our stay at the beautiful island of Corfu was extra wonderful because of our decision to book villa Athena. This villa is an absolute joy to stay at, it was very clean and it had absolutely everything you needed and more! Great to have 2 full bathrooms so that every bedroom has its own. We loved the garden, it was very big and you could choose where to sit. The pool was really needed because it was quite hot during our stay and it's of a very good size. We especially liked the seating just outside the house where we would have our morning coffee. The pictures don't do justice to the villa in our honest opinion so when in doubt ... just book it! The area is great too, it takes you about 10 minutes to walk down to the nearest coffee place and another 2 minutes to Duro supermarket. IT's right in the middle of the island so it takes you max an hour drive to get to the most northern part as well as the most southern part of the island. Kerkyra was very nearby (max 15 min drive). We had dinner at the lovely hotel in the centre of Agios Ioannis and at Costas Taverna. Would also recommend the pizza kiosk (Pizza Nostre) where the have great pizza and they even delivered it. Pelekas is a very nice village to eat out as well, with Sunset restaurant as the one restaurant with the most lovely view (be there at sunset!). Helen, the host, was always available to answer any questions we had which also added to our very pleasant stay. Because we flew back later in the day she was very kind and let us check out later because there were no new guests for that day. It really was the perfect end to our one week holiday. Thanks again Helen and Lester! We will definitely stay again if we are ever on Corfu island.

Beautiful villa with everything you need

We had the most wonderful stay at villa athena. The house itself is great with everything you need when you're away. The kitchen was well equipped. We have young children so it was great to be able to be able to make their favourite things. The outside area is incredible. The pool area is lovely with all you need for a relaxing time including sun loungers, an outside breakfast area and two other outside seating areas. There is also ample parking available for at least two cars. The location is great and was just a two minute drive to the waterpark. The road to the villa is narrow and a bit rocky but after a couple of days you soon get used to it. Corfu town is no more than about 20 minutes away as well as the beach which is a similar distance. There is a small supermarket around 10 minutes away too which is great for settling in and not going too far on your first day. We had a wonderful stay here. Helen was available for advice and was only a text or call away with some great advice. We'd definitely choose villa athena again.

Excellent Villa, quiet location, lovely pool!

The Villa was clean and comfortable with a great pool that we really enjoyed throughout our stay. The location is central to Corfu and within easy reach are the sandy beaches to the west and the shingle beachs to the east. Corfu town is just 10-15 minutes away by car and we visited a few times during our stay. The Villa itself has everything you need including an excellent BBQ. Air conditioning units are in both bedrooms but please note there is no aircon in the downstairs area, just a ceiling fan. As it was August and very hot we did have to keep shutters and curtains closed to keep the temperature down in the downstairs area. I suspect this would not be an issue outside of peak season. That said the important thing was the bedrooms had aircon and we all slept well on comfortable beds. The bathrooms are excellent, both ensuite and also a downstairs toilet. As a family of four with teenagers the pool was very good for us, a shallow end sloping to a deep end and perfect for splashing about and cooling off. The space outside was also excellent, lots of areas to sunbathe and plenty of shade to cool off. The breakfast area under the old olive tree was always cool. We parked our car under this tree for shade. You do need a car to get around. We had no problem getting up the dirt road to the villa, just a standard economy car was fine. We walked into the village regularly which is 10-15 minutes away by foot. We ate in the old village square at a local Greek restaurant (Costas) which was lovely, the other places are on the main road which is not so pleasant. Further afield there are restaurants on the beach resorts next the sea which are lovely and many choices in Corfu town. For shopping we did one big shop in Lidil (Corfu), the local supermarket up the road provided for everything else. The waterpark up the road provided great entertainment for a day and we also returned one afternoon (discount price after 2pm) it was so good. We personally loved the sandy beaches of Agios Gordios, Glifadas and Kontogialos on the western side of the island but there are lovely shingle beaches with crystal clear water on the East - we liked Barbati. Beware the roads are very steep getting to the beaches! There are carparks charging 5 euros, we always found free parking on the road but you may have to walk a bit. We also visited nearby villages Pelekas and Sinarades, the sunsets from Pelekas are amazing and there are lots of tavernas to have dinner in. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the villa at night, evenings sipping wine on the terrace and the general tranquillity. It was a lovely place to be! This is greece so there are some dogs barking and we were visited by a number of well looked after cats - which as cat lovers we had no problem with. Overall I thoroughly recommend this villa!

Lovely house, remote, fantastic views, nice stay

We stayed here for 10 days at beginning of July 22. This was our first holiday abroad since covid and didn't know what to expect. We hired a car and it is about 15 mins from the airport and we were glad we did as the road up to the villa was very bumpy, tight bends and like an off road track. On arrival the house looked stunning and better than the photos. We were amazed how big it was. Everywhere was clean and there was lots of space. When we arrived it was evening, but was disappointed as all there was, was a bottle of water in the fridge, no welcome pack or personal note to welcome us.We like to get a feel for the area we are staying in but the information was very out of date and didn't give you general information on restaurants in the local area, supermarkets, beaches. There was a TV but it didn't work. Next morning the pool guy was in. Him and the local neighbour gave us advise on where to buy supplies. The only downside to the villa is that the downstairs toilet is very small and if the door is shut and light on it is still very dark in there. The gap into the shower was very small and you had to turn side ways to get in. The water pressure is poor and so we started to put bottles of water out in the daytime sun so that in the evening we were able to have a hot shower as it does take a long time for hot water to come through even when you don't use it all day. To get to anywhere we would advise a car but you can get the bus but everywhere is a long distance away from the villa. We met the lady that came to change the bedding and towels and we found her and her husband lovely. She said that we wouldn't get any tv channels, so if you decide not to go out in the evening you have to entertain yourself as there is nothing to really do. We took playing cards and tablets. We enjoyed our stay and found some lovely places during our stay but don't think we would go back again due to all the car driving you have to do to get anywhere, couldn't get into Corfu town (tried 4 times at different times).

Quiet Retreat - good place to unwind

Stayed at the Villa Athena for 5 days, the accommodation was excellent, with very good amenities. It has a nice pool and several seating areas, to enjoy both sun and shade. It it situated in a quiet rural setting, with a great view overlooking a field of olive trees. As the villa is tucked away, a car is definitely required, however nearby shops and restaurants are not hard to find. Corfu Town is a 10 min car journey, with an abundance of good eateries and places to shop. Getting around the Island could not be easier, as the central location allows you to travel to local beaches with ease, but also travel to other interesting destinations without to much difficulty. The hosts Helen and Lester, were very accommodating, and made our stay all the better. Can't wait to return and enjoy this lovely villa again.

Relaxing villa

I have just spent a lovely relaxing and peaceful week at Villa Athena. It is in a lovely setting, with every amenity you might require from a self catering break. Together with a swimming pool and outside seating area’s ideal for long leisurely breakfasts and lunches in the sunshine. Plenty of local supermarkets and restaurants, which serve wonderful traditional menus. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent Villa, Lovely Pool, Perfect Location in Central Corfu - home away from home

Helen & Lester, the Owners were always very helpful and prompt in replying to all my queries, before booking, before and during our holiday. Alison (who is the local contact) and her husband were also very helpful. The Villa is one of the best we have stayed in, very clean, tidy and well furnished. The beds were very comfortable and there was air con in each bedroom. Beach towels, kitchen and bath towels were included and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could need (including heavy duty plastic crockery for use near the BBQ/outside area. The BBQ and outside dining area was brilliant (and shaded from the sun), we also liked the other breakfast area which was lovely for breakfast. The pool was fabulous, loved by all and there were sunbeds, a lilo, a few games which kept our teenagers entertained. There was excellent wifi all the time which was great and we enjoyed some of the large range of DVDs (the book about Corfu was very helpful). Villa Athena's location is perfect as a base to travel around Corfu which made it ideal as we did trips virtually every day and either lazed around the pool before or after the trip. We enjoyed many trips to Corfu Town and the beaches of Paleokastritsa, Pelekas, Gialiskari (our absolute favourite with crystal clear waters and the Taverna you walk through to get to the beach is a Fish Restaurant/the food was delicious) but the road down to is is a real challenge!!). Great fun to hire pedalos (normally about 10 Euro for an hour). We also loved Achilleion which was really interesting and the beautiful gardens with a stunning view. The Aquapark is literally 5 minute's away and was great fun (no queues at all as September - which was a great bonus - 30 euro each per person - worth it) Helen's directions on how to get to the Villa were excellent (the road is a bit tricky (unmade and a bit rough and ready) but the Corfiot roads in general are awful, loads of pot holes and greek drivers are crazy/have your wits about you at all times but it adds to the holiday experience (make sure you don't hire a big car - we had a Sukuki Swift which was ideal). It was lovely to come home to Villa Athena at the end of the afternoon and relax. We would come back again happily as we could not have picked a better place for our wonderful holiday. The weather was wonderful - 32-33 degrees every day. There is Duros (a small supermarket) which is open all the time and good if you arrive on a Sunday like we did when the Supermarkets are not open, otherwise lots of places nearby for food shopping, Lidl and a couple along the main road of Agios Ionnias - Loads and loads of wonderful tavernas and restaurants and bars to eat and drink in - definitely need to diet now with all the gorgeous Greek food we have eaten. We loved Corfu, it's people and Helen and Lester's little slice of Greek heaven.

Lovely property in rural setting
