Make yourself at home in this cosy, peaceful retreat where you can relax and unwind while you take in the wonderful views and peace and quiet of the Axe Valley and the Devon countryside. You will have a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a separate living/dining room with cooking facilities. There is a comfortable sofa and fold away table and chairs for dining inside. A smart TV is provided and there if free WiFi. A smart TV is provided and there if free WiFi. Outside you will have your own patio and deck area with table and chairs for dining outside, all with beautiful views across the Axe Valley. The accommodation is within our large garden, but is separate from the house with complete privacy. There is plenty of room to park on the drive and from there you will walk along a gravel path to your outdoor seating area, deck and entrance through a sliding door and into your accommodation. For cooking there is a combination oven/microwave, a fridge, a portable two-ring induction hob, a kettle, toaster and sink. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed, bedside tables and a small set of drawers/shelves to store clothes and any personal items and hooks with hangers for coats and clothes. The cabin has heating in the bedroom and living area and a heated towel rail in the bathroom, making it nice and warm and cosy even on a cold winters day. Although there is no dedicated workspace, the table and chairs can be used and there are plenty of electrical sockets and USB charging points and the WiFi is very reliable. We are creating a wonderful wild garden, which provides a haven for wildlife. The garden is full of birdsong and we have frequent visits from roe deer and an occasional passing badger. At night there are plenty of bats enjoying the wonderful dark skies and on a clear night the views of the moon and stars are fantastic. It is ten minutes walk to our local pub, the award-winning Tytherleigh Arms, which serves fantastic food and we are 10 minutes drive from River Cottage HQ. The town of Axminster is just 10 minutes drive away, where there are local shops and amenities and a railway station. It is a great location for exploring the Jurassic coast and the Devon, Dorset and Somerset countryside, with beaches at Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seaton within 15-20 minutes drive, Forde Abbey House and gardens nearby, along with other gardens to visit and National Trust attractions within easy reach. For walking there are footpaths for local walks from the doorstep and the south-west coast path is a short drive away. If you prefer cycling, there is plenty of space to store bikes at the cabin. Enjoy a holiday with a lighter environmental footprint from the comfort of your Eco-Retreat Care for the environment is very important to us. The accommodation is within the garden of our self-build eco-house and is designed to be as energy efficient as possible. The cabin is constructed of a timber frame with sheeps wool insulation and local, sustainable materials installed by local tradespeople have been used as much as possible. Low energy lightbulbs and energy and water efficient products and appliances are used as much as possible. Low energy electric heaters are installed, powered by energy from a renewable energy supplier. Your booking will plant trees and help wildlife For every booking we will donate £5 to environmental charities. Half of this will go to The Word Forest Organisation, who will fund the planting of a tree in Kenya and the other half will contribute to the Devon Wildlife Trust River Otter Beaver Project, helping to re-establish beavers in our landscape in Devon. Zero Waste All toiletry products supplied are plastic free, we use toilet paper and tissues from 'Who Gives A Crap' (all plastic free and profits are used to fund toilet sanitisation projects throughout the world). We use compostable bin liners and all waste will be sorted for recycling. As much as possible, we have re-used, re-cycled, upcycled or re-purposed items to minimise waste. We are members of the Plastic Free Lyme Regis Boomerang Bag Scheme, so you will find a handmade fabric bag in your room which you can use during your stay and return to us, or leave at one of the participating shops or business in Lyme Regis.
